How Kizumonogatari fits in?

Okay so I am looking into getting the light novels of the Monogatari Series and it is just a little confusing.

So in order of when they came out, Bakemonogatari was first. Coming with it volumes 1-5 of the series.

Then Kizumonogatari came out, and with it came volume 0 to the series. Which makes me think that it is a prequel.

Well it turns out that only recently, these novels have been translated into english. With Kizumonogatari being the first one to be released, it's english name being Kizumonogatari: Wound Tale and being published by Vertical Inc. on December 15, 2015.

The publisher plans to release Bakemonogatari in 3 volumes starting from December 20, 2016 and Nisemonogatari starting from April 2017.

Which makes me think that the publisher decided to make the Kizumonogatari english adaption first because it is a prequel and actually does come first although it was made after? Would that be a safe assumption - because I was thinking if the publisher wants it that way then I would read it that way and follow the novels as they continue to come out.

Do I start with Kizumonogatari although it came out after Bakemonogatari?

Or do I start with Bakemonogatari, Part 1 when it comes out on December 20th of this year? I was really just wondering why they decided to bring this to an english audience in a strange manner. Bringing Kizumonogatari a whole year before Bakemonogatari

Just because something has a prequel doesn't necessarily mean you are intended to watch/read it first, specifically when the prequel released after the original (I.e. Fate series, Fist of the North Star, Bakemono, etc). Prequels are usually there to give you more background on the universe the story takes place in, as well as tons of character development. If you haven't watched the original, it kind of loses some of its novelty.

Thats just my two cents though.

Edit: I watched Kizu in theaters, and it really wouldn't have had much of an appeal of I didn't already know the characters and the story from Bakemonogatari. That's the anime though, not sure about the novels.

See I didn't think that just because it was a prequel it was meant to be experienced first - I mean I watched Fate/stay night before Fate/Zero and that was the way it was meant to be viewed because different story elements were slowly released to you.

But I am trying to make out why they decided to bring it to english audiences this way if it wasn't meant to be experienced this way.

When watching anime or reading manga, make sure you experience it in the order it was released.

Unfortunately, that is currently impossible and will remain so until the 20th of December :/ Unless I magically learn japanese - unless I experience it in the way that it was released in english....

Kizumonogatari translation is the one i have read and i tell you , it surely aint the first one to read in order cause intro includes so much further development references.
