The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Synopsis (Courtesy of MAL):
Spoiler (Click to View)Kyon, your typical high school student, has long given up his belief in the supernatural. However, upon meeting Haruhi Suzumiya, he quickly finds out that it is the supernatural that she is interested in—aliens, time travelers, and espers among other things. When Haruhi laments about the lack of intriguing clubs around school, Kyon inspires Haruhi to form her own club. As a result, the SOS Brigade is formed, a club which specializes in all that is the supernatural.

Much to his chagrin, Kyon, along with the silent bookworm, Yuki Nagato, the shy and timid Mikuru Asahina, and the perpetually smiling Itsuki Koizumi, are recruited as members. The story follows the crazy adventures that these four endure under their whimsical leader, Haruhi. The story is based on the light novels by Nagaru Tanigawa.

I have been meaning to make this discussion thread for some time, however I had put off finishing the anime until recently (I prefer to finish and analyze before being able to give a good feedback (; ).

Suzumiya is an interesting anime. Blending all the typical aspects of a boring, school-base series, it proceeds to flip it on its head with a varied range of changes and experiences from the characters. The plot revolves around our MC, a normal high school freshman, who ends up with a motley crew of fellow students who aren't "normal." I cannot explain further without spoilers ofc. The way the show is narrated is also unique to this particular anime as well. The character development was very well done and each one, while easily archetypal, very much had unique attributes and were memorable.

The sound is another noteworthy piece of this anime, complete with memorable performances and the OP/EDs were decent. Art is very nice and done well. Overall, if you can manage to sit through all of it, it is a worthwhile experience and I highly recommend it ;)

Side Notes (Read #1 at your own risk):
1: Spoiler (Click to View) In the second season, there are 8 episodes regarded as the "Endless 8." They are essentially the same episode recurring over and over again. They were a gigantic pain in the ass. However, I actually enjoyed the concept of it. You really feel what it is like to suffer an eternity ;)
2. Provided here is a list of episodes. There are two main ways to watch this show: Broadcast and Chronological; use the list provided to view in whichever way you desire.

Been meaning to check this one out. I just recently finished Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (Parts 1, 2, 3) and started Diamond Unbreakable but since it's currently airing I'm waiting for it to finish.

Perhaps this will suffice to watch while I wait. I've always been a sucker for SoL anime. And I'm also into time travelers and aliens.

It has a little bit of everything so you should enjoy it ;) But do try to use the link I posted for the lists of episodes since there are a few ways to watch the entire series. I recall I watched it in chronological order, but some might like the broadcast version/etc.
