The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya

Synopsis (Courtesy of MAL):
Spoiler (Click to View)One cold Christmas day, Kyon heads over to school and the SOS Brigade's holiday celebration, only to realize that Haruhi Suzumiya seems to have disappeared. Moreover, no one even remembers her or the SOS Brigade; Mikuru Asahina knows nothing and is now afraid of him, and Itsuki Koizumi has also gone missing. The Literature Club, formed only by an uncharacteristically shy Yuki Nagato, now occupies the old SOS club room.

Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu is based on the fourth light novel of the acclaimed Haruhi series and is set after the events of the anime series. Not uncultured in the supernatural, Kyon will have to deal with his whole life turned upside down like a bad joke, and maybe it's better that way.

If you have not seen the original series, it is recommended that you watch this first as the film takes place afterwards. Here is also the link to the series' discussion thread.

If you want to spend 2 hours and 40ish minutes watching the second longest film in anime history, then this is the right choice for you ;) The plot of this film however provides an interesting contrast to the series, as now our narrator/MC is the focal point rather than just the group in particular. The characters see a much further examination and development than before, and as far as I have observed it appears that this film was much closer to the light novel.

The sound and art are still well done as with the original series. The film was a splendid piece to end the series on a stronger note. If you are able to muster the time to sit through all of it, you will find it a pleasant conclusion to the series ;)
