Will E-Sports replace Real Sports?

Some die hard e-sports fan cite the growing interest as evidence that e-sports are going to take over real sports.

Now, I think they are fucking idiots. Sports been a part of our lives..well..forever. To think that nerds playing games will replace real sports...not gonna happen. As much as I like gaming, no way in hell it will ever replace sports.

What are your thoughts?
I agree that they will never replace physical sports, however, I do think that one day they will become just as if not more popular than physical sports. They are now on ESPN the esports scene is bigger now than it ever has been and we have price pools upward of 20 million dollars at these events. If you look at history it just keeps growing at an exponential rate, and I feel as if it will only continue that way, especially once VR becomes mainstream.
that'd be pretty interesting. I don't think it's ever going to replace sports but it might become more known, imagine e-sports in the Olympics? lol
Replace? No that's close to impossibruh.
I strongly believe "Real Sports" will never be replaced by "E-Sports". There will come a day where there are more popular "E-Sports" than "Real Sports" but not to the extreme of replacement. Each day "E-Sports" is becoming more popular and mainstream, examples of that being; CS:GO tournaments being streamed to live television. Good topic to discuss OP, great post!
That would be fucking ridiculous, but hell its 2016 I wouldn't be surprised.
We live in a day in age where people always try to tinker and change things that aren't broken.
Real sports will never be overthrown by e-sports and whoever thinks otherwise is an idiot.
Just my opinion, I'm sure others will have different thoughts on the matter.
RIP L.A.!
It sounds like there are some pretty passionate sports fans in this thread =D
E-sports replacing real sports. That's the funniest thing I've heard today. You've made my day, OP.
This shouldn't be an argument.

All sports are still more popular than e-sports.
2016 seemed like a joke to me lmao i doubt this would ever happed
No fuck no, if it ever does I'll kms.

I like video games as much as the next guy, but e-sports are not real sports. The fact that the xgames gave OpTic gold medals is just a gigantic fucking meme move and proves they're doing whatever they can to stay relevant, because the xgames are fucking retarded.

I don't think that e-sports will completely replace physical sports being that people love to see real people. People getting the shit knocked out of them in a MMA match, or getting tackled hard in football.

Granted e-sports are big and taking off very well, I highly doubt they will fully replace sports.
