Hyperlink to local folder in rtf WordPad

Is it possible to use short hyperlink to a folder in wordpad rtf?

For example:

Let's say I want to link to a file in Local folder in rtf. It only allows me to use full path to folder:

{\field{\*\fldinst{HYPERLINK "file:///C:/Users/myPC/AppData/Local/file.doc"}}{\fldrslt{\cf1\ul Click Here}}}

but I will like to use a short form like:

{\field{\*\fldinst{HYPERLINK "../AppData/Local/file.doc"}}{\fldrslt{\cf1\ul CURTIS}}}

This works on ms-word but not on wordpad. I am hoping someone here can help me out with this so I don't have to always change the link when I move to another PC.

It will also be cool if i can link to cmd then pass command to the path e.g.

{\field{\*\fldinst{HYPERLINK "C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c path/to/file.doc"}}{\fldrslt{\cf1\ul Click Here}}}

Or maybe a way to convert the hyperlink to hex codes
Seriously...no one has an answer or an idea for this??...i guess that might mean it is not possible.
I am still hopeful that someone will post something that can help.
You might be able to use system variables. WordPad is paired with the OS, so I'd assume it could work with them.

Like %temp% is the system's default temporary data folder. Check your system's default variables and see if you can use any of them to specify a vague filepath. (By vague I mean not fully stated as a string.)

I tried for example %Appdata%\file.ext but it does not work, i don't know if you are not allowed to use default variables on wordpad...Pls try on your own computer and let me know if it works for you.
Thx

In Microsoft Word, you can hyperlink to any file or web address. Maybe try saving a .DOC or .DOCX to RTF from MS Word if you have it. Some Word document features are not supported when saved in RTF, but I don't have any Office product so maybe someone else could help you on that suggestion.

Also, why would you need to go up a directory? You used "../AppData/" in the OP.

I already tried saving from word to RTF, but still does not work.

Is the file you're trying to link to a Word document like on the OP? Filetype might affect how the execution rolls out but as far as I know RTF documents don't support directory jumping (if that's what its proper name is).

The file am linking to is RTF as well so am possitive file ext is not the problem.

What about other ways to do this, for example...first setting hyperlink to cmd.exe location, then passing command to locate my desired file....do u know how to accomplish any of this

Just make a batch file and have it open the RTF. I'm pretty sure parameters aren't supported with RTF hyperlinks, so you may or may not be able to open a file directly with a hyperlink to CMD.

OK then, thx for ur time...i guess this is not possible cos even batch file requires me to link to it.
