2 Years of College, Guaranteed $100k+ Salary Job

Okay I want to essentially put a notice up here at the top that there's no proof involved here, I just needed a place to really talk about all of this without my friends thinking I'm an obnoxious asshole. Hence why I came to the bragging rights section, because IMO it's badass.

Alright, I guess a tiny bit of backstory would do some good to possibly emphasize why this opportunity means so damn much. To make a long story short, I failed 9th grade and switched to homeschooling the year after but didn't do a damn thing so I'm permanently a year behind so I'm essentially watching all my friends graduate before me. I was looking for an opportunity that would at the very least just distract me from being behind like I am.

In the end, the opportunity I ended up getting is completely moving cities with my sister and living with her, my parents wouldn't move at all. That's already a +1. I finish out my last two years of highschool at some good public school in that city and go straight to college for two years essentially studying how to build, operate, and repair robots used in what I was told to be the manufacturing of cars for a popular car brand.

At first I didn't know what to think but I caught word that I'm guaranteed a job like that as soon as a graduate which would be paying me a tiny bit more than $100k a year, right out of college. Can't stop there, I have a family member that works with granting people money from the state to help them start up stuff that's believed to in the end be helping the state overall... Get this, I can take the things I learn from those two years at college and apply for a grant to start up a non-profit to teach people how to do what all I learned. My family member has already told me that they can get money granted to me to start up that organization.

Not just like $100k... $2 Million dollars as a start up for this non-profit that in the end I could end up turning into a legitimate business.

I'm currently 17, when I graduate I'll be 21 with the guaranteed job, and a chance to create this start up.

All my life I've lived in the environment of a tab bit of economic trouble and just family troubles in general. Not terrible enough that I couldn't live through it, but to have an opportunity like this is honestly considered a legitimate blessing in my book.

Time to not fuck this up.
Wow man that is actually really good... definitely worth bragging about!

I just want to remind you that yes this is great, and I'm glad to see you've got everything planned out at 17 as lots of 17 year olds don't even know what they want to do as a career.

However there is one thing you should keep in mind and that is that plans can fall through, so yes this is great but don't put too much confidence in this plan. Your family member says they can get you a grant of 2 million dollars, that person could die or lose their job from the time of now to your graduation. Just needing to point that out so you are thinking of that.

Congratulations, this is really cool!
Nowadays? I'm just here for the nostalgia.
What is this guaranteed bullshit?

Nothing is guaranteed.
A job that pays $100k right out of college for operating robots seems like there's no opportunities for advancement in the company.

At $100k starting off I'm not looking for any advancements. That's way plenty more than I could ever want.

I'm glad that you did point this stuff out. I know that things could slip up here and there and I don't really expect some things not to. It's good to have a reality check, especially when you're in the midst of being overwhelmed with good news. All of that will be kept in mind, most definitely. Thanks man!
Talk to us when it happens bud..

Considering they quite literally guarantee you that you'll end up with a job when you graduate from their program, I can only assume it's to be real. Granted I don't know how things really will be when I get to that point of the plan, it's just about looking at all the positives in the moment. To me at least.
You can say you're pretty special, not everyone can say this after they graduate.

I plan on it, assuming things do actually stay on track.
Always have backup plans man..
Not to bash or jealous or anything..

But was this just based off of word, written, or what?
I apologize to everyone truly. I didn't do what I did just for the hell of it. Family needed food and a roof.
Wouldn't that constitute a conflict of interest/embezzlement/etc if your family member is the one handling the process of granting state aid to you…? Either way, for a 17 year old, you are miles ahead of people your age. Just stay on the grind and be hungry - and remember, ALWAYS have a plan B.

Tad bit of written, a good bit by word. Word coming from someone who's worked with that specific college for yearssss before this was brought up to me, I can only hope it's reliable. As for the back up plans, I've got them. Granted I don't want to resort to them but I completely understand where you're coming from.

I honestly don't know the entire process that she has to go through in order to actually push one of the grants through, I do see what you mean by that though and quite honestly had never thought of it. The hunger I have isn't even for me, it's to make sure that at the end of all this, my family's in a good place moreso than myself. As for the extra plans, I believe there's a total of 4 variable plans I've got just incase I have to adjust or in the end it really does fall through. I appreciate it man.
you took out any college loans?

Not as of yet, in the process of going through and seeing which scholarships would be worth going and attempting to get to cut the cost and going from there once it's time.
Robotics is becoming a big thing nowadays. Should easily be able to find a job
