Synopsis (Courtesy of MAL):
Doc Ido, a doctor and mechanic who lives and works in the hellish, postapocalyptic "Scrapyard", finds the—miraculously preserved—remains of a female cyborg in a junk heap. After he revives and rebuilds her, the preternaturally strong, amnesiac "Gally" begins to forge a life for herself in a world where every day can bring a fight for life. Adapts the first two volumes of the "Battle Angel Alita" manga.

Spoiler (Click to View)

Based off of the first two volumes of the manga by the same name, this short OVA series does a pretty surprising job at delivering to its audience despite the brief 1 hour time limit of the series. Given that they were made to be compressed versions of those two volumes, they made up for it with a few fixes to the plot to add some form of consistency. The story surprisingly didn't feel very rushed and each character was given their chance to shine. What was most surprising was the development of the two MCs: Gally & Yugo, and the two different paths that were developed by them over the course of the series, no spoilers though. ;)

The art was generally what you'd expect for an early 90s anime with fine detail but somewhat generic animation. The sound was actually pretty decent, however there were times where the needs of the story and the music didn't coincide. Overall, despite the setback of being a short OVA, it does its job and I do recommend this for everyone looking for a cyber-punk, wasteland dystopia story. ;)

I watched one of the movies and really loved it. Lots of tech talk, funny/witty dialogue mashed with conspiracies and action to make a killer plot. Alita is a great MC. She is innocent and naturally riske, rather than having to try and be. She isn't obnoxious or bratty either like most other young female MC's.

Alita sorta reminds me of a younger version of the MC from Aeonflux
