I recently built a $2500 PC and for the specs I put in it, it really shouldnt be as slow as it is. I am almost certain that it is the hard drive... The specs of the machine is below:
Motherboard: GigaByte G1 Sniper B7
CPU: Intel Core I7 7700K 4.2 ghz
GPU: Asus Strix Geforce GTX 1080 8G GDDR5
Power supply: EVGA SuperNova 750W G2
Case: NZXT S340
CPU Cooler: Cool Master Hyper 212X
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3000Mhz 16GB
Hard Drive: WD Blue 2TB (2015)
I have a 250GB Samsung EVO 850 on standby to put the OS on, but is the hard drive letting me down?
My PC benchmark:

I bought the ssd for the OS and OS only, didnt leave room in the budget for a 1tb ssd lol. I have had the ssd for a while but cbf to put it in and re-partition lol

Because they are a great option if you dont have a masive amount of cash?
It would be $900 for a 2tb ssd fam...

If you bought a 2TB WD Blue, then you got a 5400RPM. 100% the problem here.
Although, I'm not sure why the OS isn't already on the SSD.

I bought the ssd after I finished the build, its just laziness stopping me lol
Hard drive is definitely the issue. A 512gb ssd would have been a good choice for a $2500 build.

That's why you have both, you don't NEED a 2TB SSD.
I recommend getting a smaller size SSD. You use the SSD for the OS and important programs that you need to boot up quickly, then the rest you store on your HDD.

In that case, there you go. Put the OS on the SSD and you'll see an increase in speed.

Strying to weigh up to sell my ssd and then buy a 1tb ssd for a main drive

Unless you have money to blow, that's really not necessary.
This is the setup I use and it's been pretty solid for me as far as space.
120GB SSD for OS/Recovery.
240GB SSD for games and software.
2TB for shit.
Like everyone else has said, HDD is definitely the sluggishness you're feeling. You don't need to get a gigantic ass SSD to fix it though. Just something big enough for the OS.
