I just realized that these skyrocketing cryptos are very close to stock IPO's (initial public offerings). Then I had a second thought, that future IPO's could potentially be blockchains.
Imagine IBM converts all their stock from the NYSE to a crypto called IBM. They could sell that stock on an exchange like Poloniex, their initial stake of course is their ownership percentage.
Definitely can see a time where all stocks offered are instead blockchain based. This could forever change how the stock market functions.
I bet companies are already looking into how they can make this happen.
Something like this makes a ton of sense and it could be the killer usage that creates the critical mass for cryptos to be widely adopted across the globe.
How would things like profit sharing work out then?
Not quite sure how they currently work either, tbh

I dont really see this being extremely popular with companies, but it does sound like something that could work. I just dont see it being widely accepted. If you have thousands of bitcoins around and want to buy stocks, you can exchange it for USD and buy stocks. Also they would have to do a lot of work to regulate the currency and make sure no one under 18 is buying the currency if they are receiving ownership benefits. Maybe I am miss understanding something you are saying
I don't see it happening in the next 5 years but maybe beyond that. Cryptos are the future.

Assuming dividend will be paid out to the address of the coin holder, wouldn't that render cash and stock dividend the same?

Maybe a way for the blockchain to expand or a sidechain that's the dividends? I'm not going to pretend to be smart enough to figure out how it would work completely. I just can see the usage.

Not quite sure how they currently work either, tbh They currently send dividends to their shareholders. Not sure there is a solution to this other than something weird involving etherum's programming system or something. They can't just give more IBM coin to the IBM coin holders if you see what I'm saying- they would need to give it in a different currency or maybe even fiat somehow.
The IRS would go nuts if this stuff started happening. And I would invest as lot in poloniex and localbitcoins if this starts up.

It's an excellent idea to pursue though, and definitely something for mental gymnastics for me over the next couple of hours.
The most immediate thoughts I have are directed towards licensing, regulation, and anonymity.
Maybe some sort of "controlled" Blockchain could work, while still holding onto decentralization. Each address, or really like "balance endpoint" is registered to an individual and that registration is handled before the endpoint is allowed/validated/whatever on the network.

Thing of every popular alt-coin like Bitcoin. Imagine one day it will be worth $1000s of dollars, and when your that guy that invested early and you make bank, thank forums like this for your money.
Omniscience, do you think anything particular will happen to the cryptocurrencies when the BTC dominance hit below 49.99%?
This is very interesting, I can see this happening sooner than later. Coins/ cryptos are around the corner of the future, China hopped on the freight train already. I think its only a matter of time and world chaos...

Wow that's actually a really interesting concept - I think that's definitely something being explored right now and if it hasn't even been discussed, it needs to be.
I do not see any large company transitioning to Crypto IPO's simply because what they've been doing has worked for the past 200 years. What I can see is a small tech company going public with some sort of Crypto IPO. Whether companies from there transition or not idk but I don't see it being a large company making the first move.

Am I the only one that doesn't understand?
Can anyone explain in baby language?
