I got the Razer Blade for $1899 and I honestly love it. Coming from a 17 inch laptop, I'll never go back after going down to a 14 inch, especially if you're going to a university. I hated carrying my 17 inch around and it hanging off my quarter desk table. The blade has a 6gb 1060 and and 7700 i7. It's honestly better than I expected it to be. It's honestly so nice having hardware that usually only comes in a 15-17 inch gaming laptop in such a sleek and small machine.

Thats USD though (I think) and + 13% tax is a huge amount :(
Does it have to be a laptop?
I can help you with building a Desktop but not so much laptop suggestions.
So your budget is $1300-$1750 before tax.
Dell XPS 15 or Razer Blade Stealth are pretty good options for your price point. Not sure if the prices listed on the links are before or after tax.

I always went for battery life as the biggest thing for a college student, considering you'd be taking it to class and such. That said, you cant have battery life and performance for gaming.

MSI makes a decent spec laptop for $1500, before tax.
MSI - 15.6" Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 - 1TB Hard Drive + 256GB Solid State Drive

ASUS ROG, a disgrace to laptops as it is 17 inches, but is well speced and in your price range. While the GFX are better, doesn't come with a SSD and only has 12GB
Asus - ROG Strix GL702VS 17.3" Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 12GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 - 1TB Hard Drive
