Introduction:
Hello, I am Armada, otherwise know as John in real life. I am the owner and operator of Orcus Remote Administrator. One of our top 3 best listed Remote Administrative software. So one may wonder, why is the Owner and operator of said software be making such a post?
Well, its pretty straight forward honestly. There are a LOT of misconceptions about what us RAT Owners/Operators do and do not, and how complaisant we are with our legal authorities.
So, lets clear a few things up here.
Users right to privacy:
As owners of such software, we DO and are known to log specific elements of the users registration. Some Software includes the registered email, HWID #, and even license key to some variable.
Understanding the REASON for this type of logging is fundamental to understanding the intended software's design and use.
It will never be a great idea to try use a open clear net piece of software for financial fraud, for example. 🤦♂ Its just stupid.
Users Right to Use:
We as the software developers have to assume our software is being used for legitimate purposes. Although we may be aware some users will have ill intention, or less than good means in mind, we also respect users have the right to perform their work in a non-invasive environment. That being said, unlike many mis conceptions. We can not be bothered to log everyone activities, nor do we really care what you are doing with the machines you are administrating.
Legal Compliance:
As noted, I am speaking for legally registered RAT software here.
That being said, when and IF one of the developers/owners are served with legal paperwork, our foremost concern is protection of our company and client base.
This does not mean some will not openly work or assist with legal investigations, however the top 3 RAT developers, we have all consulted legal representation and have fail safe precautions setup in that event.
End of the day. This is the users own decision as to whether a Paid for RAT or one of the free unsupported ones are their ideal solution.
But this misconception that us developers are Undercover Federal agents, or willing working with legal authorities makes no sense, it would undermine our intention of creation of our software. It would damage our sales.
End of the day, Any and all RAT developers will be legally compliant if we are served with proper paperwork. I would personally place up the barriers as required to protect our customer database. However, legal paperwork i just that.
Not a simple RAT developer is going to risk prison time for another users illegal activities.
The Witch Hunt:
I will just say this much. There is none on RAT Developers side. We do not want to hunt or track potential malicious users down without warrant or cause.
So you guys can get that out of your heads......
