I swore into the Marine Corps yesterday!

It was a fucking all-day process, so here's the rundown:

Recruiter drove me to the MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station) two days ago and I took the ASVAB, got a 95 (out of 99, the score is what percentile you scored into). The Marines administering the test were puzzled that I was picking a grunt job like LAV Crewman. That was all for that day, I was done at noon and had to wait for the shuttle to come at 5 to take me and everyone else to the hotel. We checked in and they gave us free dinner and they had a game room and everything, it was really nice. Our wake up call was 4 AM. We woke up and ate breakfast and went back to the MEPS for Medical inspection. Basically you pee in a cup, get your blood drawn, take a hearing test, take a vision/depth perception test, and get your physical. Physical is just like what it sounds. Doctor grabs your nuts and tells you to cough and then tells you to bend over and "spread 'em". Then you have like 3 "interviews" where they ask you 50 different times if you have to change anything in your medical record and if you included every single medical incident from birth till now. Then you wait for the swear in ceremony for a few hours and then you're in.

It was like the DMV on steroids.

I was going to pick 1371 but it got taken the day before...

I'm happy with LAV Crewman but my recruiter said that it's possible that if someone in the next 9 months drops their 1371 contract then I can take that MOS. (I'm a reservist, I get to pick my actual job, not just the rate.)

Is that BS or true?

It was an old guy.

If you're so insecure about your masculinity that you won't let some guy you'll never EVER see again look at your dick and balls to make sure you don't have any hernias or tumors then maybe you ARE gay.

Jussayin.

The contracts refresh every fiscal year and the USMC already works 2 months in advance. 1371 is a pretty popular MOS. A lot of the more POG jobs were open but I'm not interested in those.
