Organizing notes

Hello HF, I am in the process of learning a language and I am currently taking notes. I have a few questions about notes organization though. Currently, I am using notepad++ for notes.

Paper, Plastic or Pixels (Please place your answer in the comment area): Would you recommend writing notes on paper or in a text document? I feel as though this is more personal preference than anything, but I thought I'd add it, you might have some insight I don't. I prefer np++ because I can easily c+p examples and my writing is baaaaaaaaaaaaad (Are the extra a's necessary? Yes xD)

Mixing code with notes: I feel as though I will be confused when going over my notes thinking a note is a part of the function. Currently, I am using -'s as a separator but it feels wrong.

Color coding: Currently using a dark grey background with white font. If you have a preference I'll give your's a try!

If you could give me an example of your strategy or any recommendations I would appreciate it greatly!Anything from separator recommendations, specific color coding, etc. to absorb info more effectively will help a great deal.

tl;dr I am taking notes to better my understanding of the material I am learning and need help organizing it. Please give me your recommendations.

Any answer helps. Thanks in advance! 🤝
you do not need to take notes. do you need to take notes while actually learning a real-world language? no, you learn it most effectively by actually speaking and writing the language. likewise, you learn programming by actually doing the programming if that makes sense. my recommendation is to watch a video on a keyword in your language, then try to use it in a project of your own.

Basicslly this.

When I first started learning I took notes, but they didn't really help me except for when I was learning boolean logic.

Most programmers I know just google whenever they forget a keyword, and that happens a lot
I hate everyone on this website.
Notes just wont help just understand a little basics and do practicals of it and just picup any project you can think of and try to make it you will learn a tons of shit

Thanks, guys I appreciate it! You put me on a better track already! I was noting everything and I think it did more harm than good because it made me less focused on the task at hand. I think I'm gonna first try making a basic calculator that supports basic arithmetic not stuff like square roots obviously lol, and move on from there. From now on I will only write notes for hard concepts I can't understand.

ps Terrible you are 100% right. I took 4 years of German and it was 90% heavy note taking. Very little actual application of the language. It goes to show too, I barely recall shit. 4 years should be enough to hold a conversation, but when I went to Germany with my class we confused the fuck out of everyone we talked to. I can't imagine how much less I would know if I used Rosetta Stone xD
