Just started watching this because it's apparently the shit. So far I'm just fucking confused. I don't like being spoon fed but I feel like the first episode is jumping around a lot.
Does it eventually get a little easier to understand?
It starts to get a lot easier to fallow after the first few episodes. A lot of people dislike it because of this since it changes from one of those abstract dark anime to something more standard. But I'd say it's really worth watching, what exactly are you confused about?

Almost everything tbh.
-The main character is some kind of investigator but it's hard to tell exactly what role the organization plays in the society.
-It was mentioned that the thing they created (the proxy?) had become self-aware, but the other robots (forget what they're called) also seem to be self aware.
-In the final scene she's attacked by one dude (again, the proxy?) and then he's attacked by another that looks similar to him. Are there two?
Like I said, I hate being spoon fed but I little more explanation would be nice. They kind of just half-explain some of the necessary details like they expect you to have prior knowledge.
And what the fuck are these? Talking statues? Lmao

Re-l works for the city, she's just part of one section of the cities government and works as an investigator.
>It was mentioned that the thing they created (the proxy?) had become self-aware,
I don't think they're creating proxies but studying them, they've always been self-aware from what I can remember.

The robots have just recently started to become self-aware and attacking humans, it's a recent problem that has sprung up in the city and Re-l has been investigating it.

There's several proxies, but what they really is a big spoiler.
It's been a long ass time since I've seen it so my memory is a bit fuzzy.
On a side note, fucking love their choice for the ED song.
Ah its been a while since I watched Ergo Proxy, I'd say for your to wait till the last 1-2 eps where they explain a lot more of what's going on. Unfortunately you caught yourself in a NGE situation where you kinda have to suck it up and watch the series for what it is, and after if you're confused you need to do some research. However at least you get some straight forward answers in the anime compared to NGE.
