Fedora Cannot Locate Unallocated Space

Hey, I've recently have been moving into the world of Linux and Ethical Hacking. I've decided to use Fedora as a main distro to get started and run VM's off that. I have downloaded the most recent .ISO for Fedora. I've also chosen 'Rufus' as a USB formatter and to create a bootable USB flash drive off it. Once I created the bootable drive with the .ISO I went and partitioned 40 GB from my C:. I left it unallocated and booted up Fedora. Everything was working fine until I tried to actually install the distro into the Unallocated space I have previously created. That space was not showing up so I couldn't install it. In fact, no drives are popping up so there is no shot in me installing it. Sorry for the bother, I feel that because I'm new to the community I feel I'm not welcomed yet. If someone can please help that'd be great. Thank you.

You should be able to run fdisk -l and see all your partitions and which one is going to be the unallocated space. From there you will just want to run the Fedora installer and point it towards that specific partition. If that is your only hard drive then it will most likely be /sda# however if your USB is the first thing that gets read it will be sdb#

I'll give it a shot, thank you.

Hello I'm back. I ran 'fdisk -l' (fdisk not fdsik if anyone else is using this) and my partitions aren't showing up correctly. For some reason there are a shit ton of 6.5 GB ones and I thought that there might be some sort of cap, but than I found another one above. Anyways, I went to the 'Fedora Installer' again and found that the installer is reading the USB F: that it's booted off of, but it still cannot locate my Unallocated Partition. If there's any more information you need, please let me know. Thank you for helping!

(P.S. I've noticed that there is an error with the first three lines in the terminal on boot, but I'm not sure what it is and everything after that is completely fine and still boots up without a problem. I'll try and get a snapshot of it and upload it to imgur or some dump site)

Hmm that's pretty strange, one thing you could try doing is formatting it on Windows as something that Linux will read like FAT32 and the n trying the Ferdora installer since it should reformat the drive for you. You could also try using gparted in linux to see if it will read it.[/quote]
