Upgrade from G3258 to i5 4690

Picked up a used i5 4690 on ebay for $135 AUD to replace my G3258. I only play CSGO and always get stuttering with my G3258 even when overclocked so I bought the i5 4690. I was planning on selling my G3258, memory and motherboard then upgrading to Ryzen 3 but decided to get the i5 instead. Just wondering if I made a good or bad decision?

Current specs

Intel Pentium G3258 3.20GHz
Asus HD 7950 3GB
Gigabyte GA-Z97-HD3 Revision 2.0
Kingston 2X4GB 1866Mhz
Will it do better? Yes.

An R3 1300x would run you ~$165 AUD, which is much newer and would preform a bit better....

You would also need new ram and motherboard, lets say you got $100 for your current components, you would still need another $200-$300....

So really could you afford another $300?

If yes, you should have, if no, then you made a good choice.
