I dont think theyr really patchable since they just use a system within the game Yeh didn't think they could patch or would stop it. It gets cheaters banned and adds more money in their pocket.
My bot still works, just hit 1000 bans, and looking at it there's no announced changes to anything regarding this :)
My bot accounts that I haven't played any matches on have gotten the blue banner multiple times when I've checked, so unless they changed something in the last few months then no, report botting has not been 'patched' (it's not a glitch that needs patching, report bots need to be left the way they are. You have the websites that require something small from you in order to use 11 accounts, you have websites that are completely free and simply give a box for a steam64 and those don't work according to a bunch of people I've seen posting it, and you also have people that buy 10+ accounts for the sole purpose of report botting which also works as long as they do it properly.

If you look at the original report bot situation, it was unrestricted and Overwatch was flooded with obviously legit players reported by salty shit-lords that suck dick at this game. It was becoming a very obvious problem and Valve responded by not completely preventing report botting but limiting it. Report botting is still useful but it's not disruptive, where-as before the restrictions were applied by Valve, report bots were being obviously abused and doing potentially more harm than good in the long run.
So based on Valve's behavior it seems they're not against report botting when done responsibly, they're against report botting when it's clearly being abused by sore losers and flooding Overwatch with obviously legit players who, in a world without report bots, would never be reviewed by Overwatch investigators. Just so you understand what "patched" means, it doesn't mean removed, it means releasing a fix for something is broken.
But ye I don't see why they would do that, maybe they are just relying on their automated systems to detect it, maybe they've improved on the automatic auto bans

Being able to show logs that approves the player was reported by his bot, and the player being banned within 12-24 hours, points in the direction of they were banned due to the report bot, especially when its more than 5 reports. It would also be quite obvious if steam closed their api, as their response to his bots api requests probably would indicate the api had been closed. The question is whether its enough proof for the salty type of persons like you, but there is proof. |
