STEP 1 - Create Account
Register a free account on HackForums.net and confirm your email address.

STEP 2 - Scan
Download and run FRST, an analysis tool that allows our trained helpers to clean your computer.
  • Download the right version of FRST for your system (if you're unsure, most newer machines are 64bit):
    • FRST 32-bit
    • FRST 64-bit
Note: Only the right version will run on your system, the other will throw an error message. So if you don't know what your system's version is, simply download both of them, and the one that works is the one you should be using.
  • Move the executable (FRST.exe or FRST64.exe) on your Desktop
  • Right-click on the executable and select [Image: Spcusrh.png] Run as Administrator (for Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 users)
  • Accept the disclaimer by clicking on Yes, and FRST will then do a back-up of your Registry which should take a few seconds
  • Make sure the Addition.txt box is checked
  • Click on the Scan button
    [Image: KSJwAxg.png]
  • On completion, two message box will open, saying that the results were saved to FRST.txt and Addition.txt, then open two Notepad files with some really long logs.
You'll notice the logs are pretty big and you won't be able to post a reply containing it all. Please use ONLY either:
  • https://hastebin.com - here you can upload the .txt file directly. <- I prefer this.
  • http://pasted.co/ - here you can set a password if you wish to protect your data. Just PM me the password.
And paste the link to the logs in your thread you are about to create (step 3). Post each log (FRST.txt and addition.txt) separately on either hastebin or pasted (each with a separate link). If you're a new member and can't paste links you can fool the forums system by removing the beginning of the link.

e.g.
If you need to post an image, please use a service like https://imgur.com and paste the link in your thread.

STEP 3 - Create a New Thread
Create a new thread in the White Hat Malware, Virus, and Rat Removal Help forum.

Subject
In the Subject, select the appropriate prefix either 'Checkup' or 'Infected' and then a title related to your issue. E.g. 'Can't Boot' or 'Task manager disabled'.

What to Post
In the main text area, please describe the issues with your system in as much detail as you can. You should then paste the links (hastebin or pasted) to your uploaded logs from FRST (step 2).

It's as easy as 1, 2, 3! ... 4

Scanners Don't Work
Is the malware blocking our tools from running? Give these methods a go, then return to STEP 2 above.

METHOD 1 - Rename FRST
Try renaming FRST.exe to explorer.exe
  • Right click FRST.exe
    [Image: mGV49RR.png]

  • Click rename
  • Rename it to:  explorer.exe
  • Attempt to launch.
  • SUCCESS: Complete STEP 2 above.
  • FAIL: Continue to METHOD 2.

METHOD 2 - Run Rkill
NOTE: If your security software warns about Rkill, ignore & allow the download to continue.

Download RKill by Grinler from Here & save it to your Desktop.
Alternate download links (use these if the first file is blocked by your system):
Two
Three
Four
  • Double click Rkill to run it
  • A command window will open then disappear upon completion, this is normal
    • If this does not happen...  delete the file, then download & use the next link provided
    • If it does not work, repeat the process & attempt to use one of the remaining links until the tool runs
  • Do not reboot your machine until asked to do so.  If no version of Rkill would run, please let me know
  • When finished, Notepad will open with a log file, automatically saved at C:\rkill.log
  • Copy/paste the contents of the rkill.log file in your thread.
  • Leave Rkill on the Desktop unless instructed otherwise
Note: If you get an alert that Rkill is infected, ignore it. The alert is a fake warning given by the rogue software, trying to "protect" itself from being terminated or removed. If you see such a warning, leave the warning on the screen, then run Rkill again. By not closing the warning, this sometimes allows you to bypass the malware's attempt to protect itself, so that Rkill can perform its routine.

After running RKill continue to STEP 2 above, it is important in this time you do not reboot your PC.

METHOD 3 - Run a renamed Rkill
Try downloading either of these versions of RKill that have been renamed:
uSeRiNiT.exe
WiNlOgOn.exe
  • Double click the renamed version of Rkill to run it
  • A command window will open then disappear upon completion, this is normal

METHOD 4 - Ask Us!
The steps above may not solve the issue, but don't worry, we still have a few tricks up our sleeve. Just create a new thread and we'll guide you through some additional methods of obtaining the scans.  👍
