FTP Browser

Hello

I am releasing this FTP Browser I made in the past to steal ftp addresses from some digital linux tv boxes(The program is fully working)
A philosopher called Volter has said: "The intelligence of persons it looks from the way they are making questions."
I hope you send me some feedback(or questions:P) "Joking"

I will list two important reasons why you have to use this.(this was to make them use my ftp program to be able to get the login details lol)

First.
My program it's more faster in upload and download than Filezilla(yeah, believe it)
Second.
Less buttons are needed to be clicked for example to read files!In my program you can read a file only by double clicking on desidered file and will be opened for editing on the right side of the program(not in a new window)

Other options are present but I will post some photos and mabye a video to see it in live action.

Why not use GitHub instead?

Have you looked at this code?
If this was on github, he would get negative star ratings. Let me just name a few things:
  • No naming convention in variables and user controls, at all

  • Bizarre error handling (just a generic try catch all approach with no extra information except for: error connecting

  • Bizarre image resources with no real naming convention either, probably some stolen copyrighted material in there too

  • I hope you're hungry for some genuine spaghetti code

  • Copyright 2015? lol? Is this one from the old glove box?

And here come the whuts:

Whut #1:
Code
sr.Close() 'This is fine actually
sr = Nothing 'wtf
request = Nothing 'wtf

Whut #2:
Code
Dim myChildPercentage As Decimal = CDec(myNodeCount) / CDec(TreeView1.GetNodeCount(True)) * 100 'wtf is this even doing here?

Whut #3: Gotta catch them all and not even show the user what the fuck went wrong
Code
       Catch ex As Exception
           HuraAlertBox1.AlertStyle = HuraAlertBox.Style.Warning
           HuraAlertBox1.Show()
           HuraAlertBox1.Text = "Error Connecting"
       End Try

Whut #4: Oh god my eyes and my performance
Code
                   If str.Contains(".mp4") Or str.Contains(".MP4") Or str.Contains(".mvk") Or str.Contains(".mpeg2") Or str.Contains(".mpeg4") Then
                       ImageList1.Images.Add(My.Resources._1426561376_Significon_YouTube_32)
                   ElseIf str.Contains(".mp3") Then
                       ImageList1.Images.Add(My.Resources._1426561889_Music_Note)
                   ElseIf str.Contains(".m3u") Then
                       ImageList1.Images.Add(My.Resources.M3U_File)
                   ElseIf str.Contains(".") Then
                       ImageList1.Images.Add(My.Resources._1426561177_Text_Document)
                   Else
                       ImageList1.Images.Add(My.Resources._1426561639_folder_open)
                   End If

Whut #5: Hi, I'm useless ghost code.
Code
   Private Sub client_DownloadProgressChanged(sender As Object, e As DownloadProgressChangedEventArgs)

   End Sub

Whut #6: My eyes...
Code
       If byteCount >= 1073741824.0 Then
           size = [String].Format("{0:##.##}", byteCount / 1073741824.0) + " GB"
       ElseIf byteCount >= 1048576.0 Then
           size = [String].Format("{0:##.##}", byteCount / 1048576.0) + " MB"
       ElseIf byteCount >= 1024.0 Then
           size = [String].Format("{0:##.##}", byteCount / 1024.0) + " KB"
       ElseIf byteCount > 0 AndAlso byteCount < 1024.0 Then
           size = byteCount.ToString() + " Bytes"
       End If

I'm gonna stop here. Seen enough. Don't take this the wrong way. Please improve ;)

I seriously 100% doubt it that your spaghetti code will run faster than FileZilla. In fact, benchmarks on my side prove just the contrary.
Its an old project and I don't even have vbnet installed anymore.I just posted for those who might find it useful.
For me in that time did the job!
The world itself isnt perfect so don't expect to be this code lol
Anyway thanks for the suggestion :)
Good Program Thnx ^^ , I'm testing right away
Thanks for the sharing , but unfortunatly i came with 3 errors and can't really know how to fix them ? Someone would have any idea ! thx

Hey, I'm not sure, but I think that you forgot to replace some code

line 156, 290 and 420
Code
client.Credentials = New NetworkCredential("root", "dreambox")
Looks great, thanks for sharing!
Sample size of 1, a whopping 4 seconds speed up. I guess it's proven then. Program transfers files faster than FileZilla confirmed.
