Hey peeps! Got bored so decided to make a second round for underrated anime, choose at least 5 anime that you believe deserves recognition!
ORIGINAL THREAD
With the original thread now nearly two years old, I can surmise that many of the users in this sf have expanded their knowledge of the anime realm and therefore can add to the list for anime that are indeed underrated and underappreciated.
I only ask that you try not to choose any of the anime from the original thread as to add onto the list for more anime for everyone to look into. Going by that rule I will not use the original 5 that I have in the thread aforementioned. Here's 5 more of my own choices (not in any particular order):

- Kemono no Souja Erin - Comprising of about 50 episodes, this is a rare anime that can appeal to an audience of all ages. Starting off as a peaceful children's story, fate casts its cruel hand and the story takes many interesting turns, evolving into a complex plot with many memorable characters and its own history of the events leading up to the story.
- Casshern Sins - Diverging greatly from its original source into a darker tone, this anime begins in medias res to a corrosive world full of despair and void of life. The pacing for this anime I found to be among the few anime to incorporate a progressively episodic approach. While slow, each episode contributes to character development as well as moves between action-packed and moments of pause for reflection. From its very beginning, the struggle of life and death rests at the core, and the journey to understand this balance remains throughout the course of the anime.
- (Naoki Urasawa's) Monster - Among the genuine few thriller anime, this is a "must watch." The human condition in all its beauty and horror is placed on the stage in full display, the mentality of a sociopath and the value of human life questioned, and the ethics of choice and meaning rendered in conflict. Monster truly is a chilling story fueled by reality and may even make you question yourself on the way you think and act.
- Giant Robo the Animation - Perhaps among one of my favorite plot twists in anime, Giant Robo delivers with a coming of age story that questions the motives for our actions. Giant Robo plays out on the surface as a simple black and white "good vs. evil" story, yet throughout the series it very quickly turns gray as secrets are revealed and the choices made by our cast questioned amongst themselves.
- Bastard!!: Ankoku no Hakaishin - If there was an anime that was so bad it was good, this would be that anime. Comprised of a 6 ep fantasy parady, Bastard humorously progresses as the manly, cliche, OP, and band-named spell casting story that is needed. This is a great anime if you have 3 hours to gorge your eyes out at the ridiculous anime that you have burned into your soul. (I also recommend the dub for this one, the MC sounds like Zap Brannigan from Futurama).
