The thing about gold, silver, crude oil, and other commodities is that they are a reflection of how the NYSE is performing. I'm heavily invested in both the stock market and physical gold and silver. If you compare a chart of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500, Russel 2000, or Wilshire 5000 compared to gold. You may notice that as the stock market goes up the price of gold goes down. And as the stock market declines, the price of gold, silver, crude oil, other commodities will increase in price. This is my personal opinion however something that should be considered, I believe that anywhere from the next 1-5 years there will be a massive recession in the in us which will be the worst you'll experience in your lifetime. towards the end of 2018 I will remove my positions from the stock market. If you have taken economics you may have learned that the economy has four phases. Peak, trough, recession, and expansion (in that order). right now we have been in the peak phases for almost a year now as the markets have been been hitting highs since the third quarter of last year. you may ask why the economy will crash, one factor is similar to bitcoin, a parabolic move is what occurred with bitcoin which is just a consistence or accelerated increase in ROI which is simply impossible to sustain because that would consume entire industries (market cap wise) if that were to happen. Look, the Chinese have stop buying treasury bill (1year) notes(10years) and bonds(30years) because the deficit has become to large to repay. Normally economist compare a counties deficit / GDP ( gross domestic product) (deficit divided by GDP). right now we are about ~117.5% which means that we owe more than what we are worth. most countries that have had their economy collapse at about ~150% like the Greeks, Mexicans (1970), Spaniards, Portuguese, and so on. I am currently invest with $1900 USD in gold, $3700 USD in silver, and about $957 USD converted to Japanese Yen as their economy has recovered from the second world war. they are also very innovative which has lead them to experience a accelerated rate of growth. when the inevitable crash of the NYSE occurs, the price of the indexs, ETFs, Mutual funds, and individual stock fall, I recommend selling off all commodities as the price will increase as a result of the value of the dollar being weakened. Take the money and buy all the stocks for under the book value which means buying companies for less that what their assets are worth. I have done with with Ford Motor Company not only because of the undervalued price, but you also collect dividends the whole ride as the economy resets and enters the next phases, expansion. lmk if you have questions!
