Bear's Hopefully Bullish Stock Discussion Thread

With the current situation, I decided to dip my toes into stocks, to learn and also maybe make or lose some $$. I have noticed, this place has some smart investors. So why not maintain a thread and discuss? If things look good, I might even opt for a better way to communicate with the group of people interested to stay within the circle.

If you have anything to add from yourself, feel free to add your thoughts. If its related to making money and the markets, post here lol.
Currently, I am diversifying my portfolio quite a bit right now.

Depending on your goals for the market and how it is right now I strongly suggest looking into a few S&P 500 ETF's.

These ETF's are gonna be the money moves you make now so 10-15 years down the road you're thanking yourself. If you want to know my current watchlist of ETF's shoot me a PM I will gladly share more there.

This is a 100% good recommendation. Very safe, excellent returns expected over the next several years.

Piggy backing off of as to why I think this, I realize I didn't explain very well.

Simple:

With how the market is now its very hard to pick and chose a stock right now that will outperform the S&P, it happens don't get me wrong. However, with the current market, your safe bet is S&P 500 ETF's simply because how can you honestly pick a stock in the market right now (when the stock is practically on sale) and say "This will still be around in 10 years and outperforming the S&P". It can be done but why not take these cheaper entries into good ETF's and ride it out for a few years. You will thank yourself later.
Now is a great time to start investing. I'm personally tracking a few ETF's to dump into when this market hits rock bottom. The way I look at it is this.

You invest in an ETF and 1 of 3 things can happen;
1. The economy grows over 10-40 years exponentially (taking into account pandemics such as this) and so does the value of your stocks. Historically the market has always bounced back. This would be the ideal situation and quite frankly the most likely.
2. The economy collapses, capitalism ceases to exist and we all go back to lining up collecting food stamps. If this happens - your money won't be worth anything anyway so it doesn't matter what you do/did with it.
3. The market ceases to grow/outperform bank interest rates (1-2% per year or even 0%), however, most stocks offer dividends ontop of the value of the stock. You reinvest those dividends as stocks and still grow your portfolio through dividend reinvestment.

1 & 3 would be the most likely with 1 being the most iideal. This is of course if you have time on your side. ETFs, in my opinion, are a buy and forget type of deal. Looking at minimums of 10 years invested. Obivously - only invest what you can spare. You don't want to be buying stuff then having to sell it the next day to pay bills.

Finally - try not to check the market every day. You'll give yourself an aneurysm when you see consistent red. Hope this helps just a bit - I'n by no means a professional trader. Just someone looking to take advantage of this market situation right now.
Yes, what the others mentioned here regarding S&P ETFs seem to be pretty good.

Side note about one ETF, namely $SPY: It also happens to be a place where a lot of people are placing their puts and calls. I got greedy and did some calls. I cashed on some good bank but then waited until yesterday to cash the rest (thinking it was going to end up green). I ended up losing it all xD
My hat used to be somewhere along the border of being grey but over the past few years, I realized my calling is to learn and help others out in ways that I can ethically. Learn as much as you can, experience, grow, educate, and throw yourself in uncomfortable situations.

SPY was a great play for Calls and Puts in a bull market, I strongly advise against trading options right now. Until we have somewhat of a balance restored to the market. But hey high risk high reward. Options do make massive profits with smaller investments.

Yeah, you're right...and I made that mistake. I probably will again. I should just stick with crypto and "safe" stock options like MSFT and Dis lol

I wouldn't group crypto and 'safe' options in the same sentence.

I don't know much about Crypto so I cannot really speak on the "safety" of Crypto however I know Crypto has very high volatility.

Like I stated earlier again MSFT, and DIS are good stocks. But I strongly recommend doing some S&P 500 ETF's. Simply because it's very hard for companies to outperform the S&P 500. Depending on how deep down the hole the market goes here it could be quite a few years before companies outperform the S&P 500 again. Hence why I think S&P 500 ETF's are the money move that you will be so happy you did 10 years from now.

Cepheid is owned by $DHR.

Good luck with that Monday opening pump all.
Sigh, everyone has the wrong mindset with this corona thing. Looking at companies that make cures. Not gonna make you nearly as much as everything else that is making businesses function during these times.

Ive made a decent amount of profit with day trading within this mayhem, from companies that are working on the virus scene.

I have bought my long terms and am only posting what I see in the market right now for some quick $$ for people who are struggling to make money to even eat or pay rent.
What are your opinions on Clorox? They have been very low lately.

What companies did you make decent money off of through day trading?

Clorox, have to look into it.

I called GNMK before their 30% pump on friday. Call was made to @335i over discord 7-8 hours before market open. Uber made me decent money on same day as well.
