I understand that the decision to remove all rep was made because some members didn't like the new marketplace idea which by the way its a
great idea, but to be honest even thought i like the idea i am against the decision to remove all rep from everyone and i am going to explain why. (not for the reasons you think)

1) The decision to reset all rep doesn't only effect the marketplace section of this forum but the forum as a whole. I personally dont use the marketplace and i am sure a lot of people are like me so i see the reset from my point of view as a negative thing. Personally i dont care how much green or how much red i had (even tho again i wasnt using the marketplace) but on what i do care however is what i wrote on other people reputation walls and what they wrote on mine. I had a bit of a history and i wanted to remember the jokes i made and they made to me. So to make things simple what i mean is: The decision was made FOR the marketplace but it effected the whole forum. Good for the marketplace, but for the rest of the forum?

2) Some members were very rude and couldn't handle the change and from those members a decision was made for all members. This is equivalent to punishing a whole class because 3 students were making noise. To my eyes i see it unfair and negative.

3) Negative rep was deleted. Now i don't know if this sudden removal will cause problems in the marketplace but even if it does not i still feel those who dont deserve a second change or a third change are getting one from it thus they benefit from this whole situation while the others dont. So basically this sudden reset benefits the low life scum of this forum who acted like dicks towards other members and got what they deserved to get (a bad name basically) but now they get a free pass...  Now you will tell me that eventually things will become as they were but until then chaos will dominate on the sections outside of the marketplace and i believe this hurts hack forums overall.

4) It could have been done better: Rep could simply be blocked or not shown in the marketplace section so once you join the marketplace you cant see the reputation of others. That way the marketplace can work as a separate section from the rest (because lets be honest it can because it produces the most traffic). That way everyone keeps his wall of funny or not funny criticism with him and doesn't get effected when he decides to do deals.  Now this is only an idea of how it could have been done better but i am sure there are other ways..... and for those who will say -Well those with a lot of rep will make people join other sections to make themselves appear trusted or they will brag regardless if they can show it or not... First of all its not the same because if thats the case then lets remove awards too.... and secondly the rep reset will not prevent people from bragging about their rep in the marketplace because soon they will get their reputation back up. So rep reset not only wont effect the marketplace section in the long run because people will find ways to get a ton of once more, but it also effected those who have nothing to do with the marketplace. Either delete the rep system completely or separate it to work only outside of the marketplace, this is my suggestion because it does more harm than good for people to see a 0 out of nowhere.

5) What about my rekt? I was aiming for that for a while and i am sure many more did too. Thats a big fk you the world is unfair in my face because some got it and other cannot anymore

Nothing can be done now. He won't reverse it. Yeah it sucks, spent 5 years earning rep and was attempting to get R3KT, and now thats gone. But what can you do?

I have used the marketplace once or twice in my five years on this forum. I simply cannot fathom the benefit of removing reputation or attempting to detach rep from the marketplace.

Rep was the only backing my profile had and certainly earned me more respect when roasting members. Now all I have is what? A $10 rank and 3 rep.

I'm just sort of sad because it carried history for me, I don't visit here much anymore but when I reminisce I like to go over my reputation and checkout the members who I first met or was in a group with and see if they're still around. But it's a site that won't exist for ever anyways right?

It has been a horrible decision to reset everyones Rep.
For most marktplace users it was their show off of trustworthy and we knew who was or not having the right intentions.
After spending so many time mantaining my reputation green it is sad to see all this hard work has been for nothing.

I guess you will have a decent reason for this, but this was never the solution we where looking for.

The contracts system will be replace it in a better way. It will take some time but in the end in looks like a much better alternative. The scammers must be happy though, since all the marketplace-related neg reps are removed.

Edit: By the way some butthurt members that had lots of rep and thought they were special because of it, now have as much rep as me.

+ I dont give a fuck about the marketplace. I was here for the people, for the forum (hack etc) not marketplace. And because of 5 fucking retards that sell ebooks we all got fucked.

But i dont care. I'll still love this forum but just hate the fucking ebooks sellers and all the people in the marketplace.

I am like you. Most of my rep (497) wasn't for marketplace either. But hey, it's a fresh start and you can easily gain rep again. I believe I had 300 rep in 2-3 months after I registered. The value of repuatation isn't so big as it used to be anyway.

Over the years the site has changed so much in a bad way i think you can't really call this site a hacking site now
It really should be renamed as it looks like its getting directed to more crypto currency exchange etc well that's my opinion anyway

You're not effected by this beyond emotions. You have hurt feelings. You'll get over it.

I understand your point of view though but decisions are made based on what I prioritize not anyone elses. This site is a product of my vision which I will alter as I see fit and I will guide it accordingly.

You may suddenly feel like HF is no longer for you. That's possibly true.

I think it's more drastic than that. It's like complaining in the ice cream store about flavors so the store owner turns the place into a music store. I am not unaware of what I've done and how it can change HF forever. I already have closed long-term member accounts over this.

You make great points though and I appreciate you sharing in the way you have.

I'll make a simple plea though. Stick around for a bit and see how the changes unfold. You think it's drastic that reps are reset but it's just as drastic to suddenly leave too. The rep reset provides an opportunity for significant change at HF.

And btw right now it's set to 10 reps per day. That's double the previous limit and should provide a quick way to regain reps.

When you join a forum, you accept the decisions and role of the admin.

He has good intentions, wants to see the site grow, etc. I feel bad for alot of you guys, but he has the best intentions... and he is a smart guy, he runs one of the biggest computer-related forums. I’m sure many people have questioned his judgement, but HF is still here.
