Hey there.
I have just recently come back to HF after a longer break (with some few revisits here and there). Anyway I used to mainly be active in the Gaming tab and honestly I would say it's dying. Or rather looks like it is. So maybe it's time to bring changes to tab.
I think we should make changes to the structure of the forums/sub-forums. There are way too many dead ones and the rest have very limited activity. I made another suggestion like 4-5 years ago I think.
Current forums under HF Gamers Zone tab.
The Gamers Lounge
Computer and Online Gaming
FPS and Military Style Gaming
Xbox 360, One, and Live Gaming
Minecraft
Console Gaming
Blizzard's Battle.net
Mobile and Tablet Gaming
Grand Theft Auto
FIFA Game Forum
Right now the majority of the forums/sub-forums are either completely dead or only few recent commented threads (Basically only few threads have some type of activity lately)
There are different ways that the gaming tab could be handled.
Have a lot less sub-forums which could be:
The Gamers Lounge
For general discussions
Computer
Despite it being rather dead right now computer has a lot more discussion opportunity.
Console
This one would have tags like PS4, XB1, Switch, Handheld so on. Basically for the discussions of games that are for consoles or for people who would discuss something related to one of the consoles.
Right now none of the console has enough activity for them to get their own type of sub-forum. Only a tag.
Mobile and Tablet Gaming
This should also stay as it handles another part of gaming.
That is one way to make it. Have no sub-forum dedicated to a company or a franchise. Reason being, they die at some point and then it's just there. It just doesn't work well imo.
Another way would be having genres lined up.
Shooter
Role-playing
Sport
Racing
MOBA
Adventure
Survival
(Insert other genres)
Even with these sections lined up we could have
Gamers Lounge
Mobile Gaming
Console
Computer
Maybe make Mobile, Console and Computer sub-forums of Gamers Lounge.
Anyway under each sub-forum there could be tags representing certain iconic games in the genres or maybe franchises in the genres.
I know that there is one very big negative about having genre specific sub-forums, and that is some genres are not being discussed on here. So they would be dead. It would be a more organized death though 🤐 .
All in all I think we should reduce and reconstruct the ”HF Gamers Zone” tab.
Have no sections dedicated to specific games or franchises. Not even companies. It could make it look cleaner and eventually it could even give more activity.
Instead we should have it boiled down to base ideas of a gaming forum. Just add more tags, in wider forums.
Before people jump on a hate train and bash me to the ground. I do not hate the gaming tab. I just think it needs change. Why not just go big and overhaul it, the activity is so low that I would say it can't do more harm than good.
If anyone have better ways to structure the sub-forums please share them. Maybe if Omni find some time and is in the mood he could change the tab. So the more ideas the better.
By the way sorry for the thread title, I am not that creative with titles so I guess that one worked fine.
Thanks for reading.
