Contract Duration & Other Suggestions

So I've been enjoying the contracts feature but I've encountered one major issue from the new system.

As you can see here, here, and here, I've started contracts with members, they've paid for my product(s), I mark it as complete and leave b-rating but the other user doesn't do the same thing. Even if he didn't want to leave a b-rating, leaving the contract as uncomplete makes me look bad as a seller.

So I've been thinking on this, okay so how can we make sure that these contracts get completed if the deal itself was completed?

One idea would be to have reminder PMs from Help Bot every X amount of time, say a week has passed since we've agreed to the contract and I've marked it as complete, the help bot would send the other member a PM reminding them that the contract has yet to be marked as complete.

NOW THE MORE COMPLEX SUGGESTION:

Well after thinking on it, it brought me to this idea. Contract Durations.

It's a simple addition to the start contract page which asks the user to select if this is a short term contract, or a long term one.

Is the contract something that should genuinely be completed within 24 hours? Say buying a HF product, payment and delivery should be done quick right?

Or is it a long term contract ,which yes is likely going to happen much less often, but if this idea was implemented, we'd need the long term option as well. I'm in the middle of one right now where the deal wont complete until 6 months from October.

Okay now another idea to add onto this, what if we could add on additional conditions to the contract after accepting it? Maybe have this only on long term contracts (if that idea is liked). This of course would have to be mutually agreed upon conditions, one user modifies the conditions, notification is sent to the other user to accept or reject the new condition.

This being implemented would be a great addition to the contracts system so I hope it's considered.

Nowadays? I'm just here for the nostalgia.
This is over complicating something really simple.

If one party rates the other, and it isn't reciprocated within 24 hours, just have the bot send them a PM or display an alert bar on their page reminding them to do so.

I did a deal with someone who forgot to rate me after 2 days, I just sent them a PM and they took care of it.

It's like on eBay, they have an alert reminding you to leave feedback on items after they have been delivered, if you haven't done so

Yeah I honestly thought about leaving out the durations part because it really could be over complicating it when it's not needed.

I guess the real suggestion would just be notifications when a contract has been marked complete on one side and not the other after x time.

It's been months and those contracts I mentioned in OP will never be marked as complete. I wouldn't dare suggest they be automaticallly marked as complete but maybe marked as null or expired or something? It just seems if somebody looks through my market rating and sees these open contracts from months ago that might be concerning.

Oh well I guess I should've thought about this some more, I genuinely think it's a good idea though. Oh also the contracts already have notifications but that's when both sides mark contract as complete but one doesn't leave b-rating and it's just a reminder telling you to leave some.

Haven't gotten much feedback about this suggestion. I think if anything most of my thread can be ignored, the main suggestion is getting notifications when x time has passed and the contract has been marked as complete on one side and not the other.

We're just busy on some other things. I'll try to discuss this with Xerotic and review the issue.
This does seem very useful. I like the idea of editing a contact if both parties agree to it, along with the reminders.

How do you feel about this little addition?
