Using Shopify vs Create a store site from scratch? (Opinions)

I would like to create a website comparable to the supreme web store.

Do you guys think I should have it developed from scratch and use something like 2Checkout or Stripe as a payment processor or should I use Shopify with a completely custom theme.

If I use Shopify, I could potentially save money but I also have to spend $30/month on it right soooo. If i have it created from scratch it’ll definitely cost more as an entire backend panel needs to be made. But at the same time, I only care about the front end so a php script could be used for the backend.

With Shopify I won’t be using any of the default layouts or anything I’m extremely particular and want something completely custom. Which of course will cost and then on top of that the $30/month.

What do you guys think?
I'm a huge fan of self built. I would rather remake the wheel than use someone else's, to put it honestly. This being said, building a store is certainly a giant task of it's own; and I would be terrified to do it on my own.

If you're confident you can create a great and flawless website, go for it. Otherwise, use Shopify.

Yeah it definitely won’t be me making the site.

Miles out of my league haha.

I’m just trying to determine if it’s worth it to pay more at the start rather than over time.

Start with shopify. If you even get a ROI, then a year down the road, get it custom built.

So I feel like I emphasized the money part of this too much. It isn’t really about to cost but more so the pros and cons of both sides.

Shopify has lots of fancy features but limited as to what you can do (if I’m not mistaken) while from scratch has unlimited possibilities.

A con of Shopify is the $30/month haha.
If it's just an ecommerce site and doesn't require anything fancy, use Shopify.
