100% Disk Usage

I always seem to have 100% disk usage while booting up and after. If I let my computer sit and do nothing its still at 100% disk usage.

Are you updated on your storage drivers?
Have most current patches for Windows 10?
Have you re-installed Windows?

Really depends on much time you want to spend on Troubleshooting it. Because we can't clarify if it's a bad drive either. Either way, before T-shooting any further you may want to backup your data before proceeding.

You could try this also: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-281...e-100.html seems to fixed a few peoples issues.
Use the "resource monitor" to see what processes are accessing the disk.

Is the disk a 5400RPM 2.5" HDD? If so, just expect poor disk performance.

Does this last for just a while, or forever? My first thought is Superfetch is using up your CPU while it's building the cache. As mentioned, check your resource monitor and let us know what's using up the largest percentage of your CPU. We can better help you from there.

Crystal disk info check if you got any issues with your hdd.
It might be a hardware issue with your HDD, make sure you disable Windows Search through cmd first, go to the command prompt and type: net.exe stop "Windows Search", if that works then go to Services.msc by way of Run and locate Windows Search option and disable it.

To fix this solution indefinitely replace your HDD.

I disabled super fetch and that seemed to work, thanks a lot for the help everyone
I have the same issue with a laptop I have, it also won't download any system updates. I still haven't figured it out.

Glad I was able to help. Superfetch is notorious for destroying performance on normal spinning disks, unfortunately. Particularly if you have a 5600rpm HDD. Disabling it, while it shouldn't be the fix, is demonstrated time and time again to be the best solution.

Usually when disk usage is too high, in my opinion, it’s because of viruses/malware. A few of my friends and I had the same issue. He has to completely wipe and reinstall Windows, which is what I eventually did. May not be the same situation here if you are lucky.

i actually did this but it didn't really work. So hopefully it isn't malware!

Is super fetch easily infected? If you Iv had tons of issues with PCs and superfetch. Also when having same issue I found adware I think that had tons of spam traffic coming into my pc. My log files from stuff like that and the prefetch were ginormous quickly.
Might be hardware problem too, check if cables are connected properly
RENT THIS SIGNATURE SPACE CAUSE I NEED BYTES TO GAMBLE WITH

You need to get a new disk its probably corrupted.
Maybe you're infected with a crypto miner
