I don’t really get why they don’t get involved.
I understand like it takes a shitload of time to go through and determine if the dispute is valid but like you could easily find a thousand people on here willing to help with it.
There’s people on here with 37 fucking valid disputes and they’re still roaming free continuing their scamming spree.
Yeah I get “well the buyer should have looked through the previous disputes to see they’re a scammer” but I’m my eyes this shouldn’t even be a thing if someone scams they should be closed.
I would say a system like 4chan uses would make sense. You have deal dispute “moderators” who read the dispute and then determine if it’s valid, they’re also the ones who can ask questions and speak to both parties. Once a moderator states the dispute as valid it gets pushed into a higher version of management like the mentors then they give the final say.
I also think it’s kinda obnoxious how people can reply to disputes, it’s a post-boosting shitshow everyoen saying “hope this gets resolved” like obviously they don’t care they just want that +1 post count.
Just my 2 cents, take it as you will.
Scams do not happen here often. Over my course of 8+ years, I have never been scammed. Why? Because I’m careful and deal with the right people. If you’re too retarded to do a simple check, nothing will protect you.
I’m also pretty sure I see staff get involved in disputes from time to time, not so sure what the policy is.

Since the contract system release....Omni has been banning scammers left and right. He usually does a sweep every (week)? and bans users.
Wouldn't mind having someone solely deal with DD's so that Omni can focus on other things.
If staff had to be involved in deal disputes, then staff would also face backlash from angry users who feel their side was right.
People make false deal disputes sometimes, which could fuck someone over.
Staff has done a great job implementing trust scans, contracts, etc to make sure that users have a safe experience when trading, and if they don't, it can 99% of the time be blamed on stupidity of the person scammed for not doing their research before a deal.
On this flip side, staff isn't completely "hands-off" with the marketplace. Staff knows what goes on, and I'm sure that they monitor users they consider a threat. There have been many scammers banned before. At the end of the day, I assume it's just too much with too many variables to get staff involved in deal disputes. And with things like middle-men, you can guarantee not to get scammed.

I wrote two posts on a similar topic earlier today:

In short: even companies like PayPal, who have millions of transactions, research and analytics and a financial interest in getting it right get disputes wrong sometimes. The arbitrator (the forum, in this case) would need to cook up an arbitrary set of rules to govern who wins a dispute. The laws of each country also have trading rules, but even if you go with those you end up with amateurs attempting to enforce judgement on the legitimacy of transactions or settle a dispute in a trade. It would be chaotic. There would be too many mistakes.
It's pretty difficult to get it right. Especially difficult cases are those where a person alleges they were scammed because a term of sale was broken, or if the buyer claims the good/service is faulty or lacking. It's time consuming to deal with disputes like that, and almost always going to result in drama.

Sure, it'd be ideal if there weren't scammers in a marketplace, but they will always be there by the very nature of marketplaces, like this especially.
The administration of the forum should not be there to babysit. Unpaid volunteers shouldn't have to deal with the drama and time consuming act of arbitrating every dispute made on a deal, just so people can be a bit lazier and not have to check if a person has made trades before that resulted in a dispute.
We are lucky to have a great forum like this. I have ventured out to sites like BHW and Bitcointalk and they are just full of scammers. Although scammers roam longer than they should here, they eventually get closed and there are not that many reputable members out scamming, you can use common sense to find the scammers that are here.

Well anyhow. Anyway, Its omni's site what he wants goes. Just the way it is.
I get what you're trying to say OP, but staff does get involved every now and then, it may not be right away but they will eventually go through the deal disputes and punish those who deserve punishment. There are many other things staff has to take care of around the site so they can't be dealing with every dispute that comes in. Also, since the release of the contracts system, it's made marketplace deals a lot safer to use here. I personally have never been scammed, I'm always cautious and careful with who i deal with. Plus with this new marketplace policy update, it should definitely make the market place even safer to use.
