We were walking back from the shops with our two youngest kids and we saw this dog fly out of a garden in HOT pursuit of a cat. It was like something out of a David Attenborough documentary. It caught the cat, and with it jaws firmly locked was throwing this poor thing around trying to rip it open, there was fur everywhere and the noise was horrendous.
I love all animals but something had to be done so we both (me and the missus) ran over and started booting the dog but it wouldn't let go. With a "MIIAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAHHHHH" and a tangle of desperate claws and teeth the cat was doing all it could to exercise it's survival instinct. Something had to be done and clearly the dog was unfazed by our kicks.
Without thinking, I reached for the dog's collar and the cat, going ape shit, clawed the crap out of my hand. I'm struggling to type today and my hand is swollen and very painful. The cat lived though 🙂.
I know I'm going to get hate for kicking the dog but anyone with a heart would have done the same in the heat of the moment.

I had meat chickens before. My neighbor had a dog with the same breed as that I think since they look the same. I was raising them for meat but the dog killed them all before I was able to cook them. There were 12 of them, all dead. Killed by a dog. Happened at night so I wasn't able to protect my chickens.
There are other dogs in here but they didn't kill chickens, just that specific dog.
Nice of you to do that OP. I would have also kicked that dog.
Next time put your finger in his butthole. The dog will be like wtf and let go.
This sounds funny but it works, did it once when a pitbull grabed a cat and locked his jaws.

Damn, man. That's ruthless. You can tell this is bred to do such as well due to all the scarring on its muzzle. Was so focused too.

HAHA, I will bear that in mind but leave it out of the anacdote if it happens again lol.
Definitely good on you for saving the cat, just hope you don't get any infections from those bites lol.

Man, remember to take a vaccine for rabies asap! Even if you had a rabies vaccine before, you should do it again just in case. Tell the nurse what happened. You don't want a disease that will kill you without a chance of being cured..
Also, a tetanus shot would probably be useful as well.

Why don't you report the dog owner?
That's good to hear that you helped the kitty .
always give a swift kick to the ribs of a dog that will not let go, of anything. knock the breath out of them and they will run away. not like you're trying to break the ribs, but like you're punting a football.
We have a lot of dogs and Ive had to kick my own pit bulls to separate them from stray dogs coming up to our land.
damn man its good ur okay, and nice job on saving the cat. Looks like it would be dead if u havnt stepped in!
Sounds like my mutt. Almost killed a few cats. He stalks them like crazy.
Nowadays? I'm just here for the nostalgia.
