Virtual Box or VMware ?

Which program is better for pen testing? Virtual box is free while VMs paid.

1) What's the difference between the two?
2) is there a point paying for VM?

Thanks in Advance
I really need to know this to please if anyone could be kind enough.

Why limit yourself to just these two? ^^

If you're running Linux, modern releases have KVM/QEMU baked in; it's a hypervisor from the get-go. You can install virt-manager and have a GUI. Also, all of your updates are 'built-in' to your distro and updates rarely break anything. I used to use VirtualBox and OS updates frequently didn't sync with the VB repos. I'd have to spend time downgrading one or the other so I could start a VM. This has never happened since I switched to KVM/QEMU.

KVM and QEMU are a hard learning curve though.
Agree with the guy above, VMWare has always run better for me than Virtualbox. VMWare is free if you get the home version or whatever the fuck its called. VMWare Player or some shit.
