I use a HDMI cable which i connect to the port of my GPU. Everything was working fine until today. I have a Benq RL2455HM monitor, when i connect the hdmi cable to my GPU from this monitor it doesn't pick up a signal anymore.
I've opened up my PC and i looked through the cables to see if anything is out of place i then cleaned it up and then added a new thermal paste to my CPU. Everything seems to be working fine with my motherboard, fans and GPU. all the led's are lit from them so im assuming there isnt anything wrong with the PC itself but the monitor.
After a good clean and check from my PC, i inputted my HDMI cable to the same slot i always do on my GTX 1070 graphics card for two years and my monitor still displays "no signal" even though all the cables are inserted correctly.
I used a different HDMI cable to see if that was the issue but it clearly isnt.
I removed my GPU from my motherboard to test the monitor with just the HDMI connected to my MB to see if it displays the screen but that did not work either.
Im not exactly certain that the monitor is at fault here then again it does switch on but doesn't picuk signal from the GPU or the motherboard. If the problem was with the MB or GPU surely the led's wouldnt light up right?
If anyone has any suggestions i should try or where the problem could be, please let me know.
When you have a GPU plugged into the PCIe slot, your onboard GPU is disabled, unless you go into the BIOS and specifically tell it not to disable it.
I would recheck that you plugged in the CPU power in the top left of the board, as well as the GPU power.
Other than that, check that you're on the right input on the monitor.

what do you mean by the CPU in the top left board?

Have you done anything before that happened ?

The power cables from the PSU for the CPU.

I'll hve a look at it tommorow, but i think its correctly inserted. I think the issue is not with my monitor but the GPU i mean it looks like its working becus of the led showing and fans spinning perfectly fine but i dont know what else the cause may be..

You said in your original post that you plugged the monitor into your motherboard's port. Depending on your motherboard, BIOS, etc, you may not need to manually enable / disable to on-board GPU. Personally for mine, it auto-disables if a GPU is on, otherwise it's active.
If you have another monitor to test, please use that monitor and let us know. Also, I'd highly (highly) recommend completely removing the drivers on the GPU and re-installing using a clean install (Nvidia has an option to do this when you select what you want installed).
Also, if you have another monitor to test, you likely can get into safe mode to perform the above actions.
Another option to try is to boot from a bootable OS, like Linux. This will allow you to troubleshoot outside of (most) driver/OS issues.
nothing

When i plugged it into my motherboard hdmi port it didnt work even when the GPU was not attached to the motherboard.
I just tested the pc with the gpu installed on another monitor and there is still no signal. So im questioning myself if the problem is with the GPU or the motherboard?

If the on-board card doesn't work either, then maybe there's some damage. How did you clean the inside of your computer?
nothing

I've just brushed off the dust inside it as it was very dusty, it looks spotless now but it still does not pick up signal on the monitor.
I also applied new thermal paste to the CPU.

Can you take a picture of the inside of your PC?

Remove the ram and clean them with an earser and put them back and should work because i had the same problem and this helped me!
