For shows, I’d say Plastic Memories and Angel Beats were very sad.

For movies, Your Name and A Silent Voice both hit in the feels.

Clannad had me pretty emotional as well. I also recommend Plastic memories if you're looking for something sad.

I’ve seen both and I would have to agree with you. Both are very sad and have amazing plots, characters, and character developments.
