So I'm reading about how a lot of people are saying there's an urgent need to bring back shop classes:
Why Schools Need to Bring Back Shop Class | Time
What do you think of this? I would be interested to hear the debate.
If we do bring it back, then should we start in college or high school?
Absolutely. Bring back shop, home ec, and riflesmanship in phys ed.
When I was in school they had automotive classes, small engines, body/collision, carpentry, construction, welding, etc.
I of course chose automotive but in other classes people were literally building mobile homes and shipping them out for sale it was pretty cool.
Yes it needs to be brought back, people are becoming too soft and don't know shit anymore they expect everyone to do it for them.
Annoyingly the public education system will always be shit.
Honestly there really should be core classes on how to be an adult. Most these kids can self-learn a lot of the things taught in schools, but things like how to manage finance and how to repair shit are like critical adult things that no one knows. Its frustrating cause when I left school, I felt like I had to learn all this shit by myself, where it would have taken maybe one quarter to teach kids all the quality things in life ..
Absolutely. Most of people wont even be able to change a tire, let along build an IKEA table. So yeah, we need more of that
The highschool I went to still has woodshop.
It was prettymuch my favorite class. Every school should have it.
Lmao, looking back at it, woodshop is probably the only practical skill I graduated with.
They still have it in some places here, the teachers are normally exceptional and it is very good for the students who plan on doing it for a living rather than being in the class.

They took away the shop class? I'm pretty sure my old highschool still has woodshop, clay, autodshop, welding class and more. I haven't been there in several years though.
I'm only confident in mechanical and computer related things. When it comes to home improvement i only know how to drill a hole and paint. It'd be useful if my school had a home improvement course.
absolutely not i mean why would they do that
