6 years of change

If you would like, listen to this song while reading.

I first heard about Hackforums back in November 2012 from a wannabe griefing team I came across when playing on a minecraft server. I was curious aboutgetting good at griefing and I decided to create an account and explore the site. During that time, I was really shy and scared of even posting on this forum, so I just laid low and just looked around. I didn't see much on the forum to keep me active, so I left it for a few months and came back to give it another chance. I did my first post in the griefing section on some server I got OP on. It was a really rough start for me and I definitely seemed really sketchy to some users on this forum.

Kind of wished the junk thread feature was still around, so I could delete some of my most cringe threads. I got really active in the marketplace and it's where I met my long gone friend ItsFluffy. He was one of the more genuine members I've come across on this forum and he really showed me the benefits Hackforums can have. He was happy enough to be my mentor in making money through survey sites and somewhat of eWhoring. Not gonna go deep into those, but I really enjoyed learning and earning money from those experiences. Ewhoring did not last long, it just didn't feel right so I quit the same day I started. Around 2014, I left the marketplace scene and ventured into the Graphics section.

The artwork from Calibur, +Oblivious, Baghead, Bad Meets Evil, and Maxim gave me the confidence to leave my comfort zone and explore the world of Graphic Design. Today I wouldn't be where I'm at without the Graphics and Computing section. In the past, I was afraid to fail at anything because of absurd expectations from family. Creating designs and sharing them has definitely showed that learning from failure is the most beautiful thing. Currently, I wouldn't say I'm a pro at graphic design, but definitely a lot more competent in this area.

The many groups I was accepted in were probably one of the best experiences I've ever had on the forum. I'd like to give a shoutout to the following groups that made me enjoy being active and engaged on the site. I was overjoyed when I was accepted in some of the groups listed below and it was during one of the best years I've ever had:

  • Baka
    - First time joining an anime group on here and joining you all was pure bliss. I'm quite a weeb and combing my love for anime and graphic design was probably the best thing ever. It has helped me bring my waifus in real life and improve blending real people into different environments. This group will be dearly missed, but I'm glad to stay in touch with some of you.

  • Complexity
    - Got accepted into their Graphics division, but I can't recall who the leaders were. I think one of them was Mastery, but it's all fuzzy. One of the first groups to ever be in and the helpful feedback I got from everyone helped me improve dramatically and I wouldn't see myself today without that help.

  • The Empire
    - The first group for me to encourage people to give back to the community and it was my first time doing a paid sticky contest in the name of the group. I enjoyed the entire time I was in the group up till its closure. Don't know much about Tibit, but it was imo one of my favorite groups and I don't see any group today being the same.

  • The Brotherhood
    - Got accepted into their Graphics division as well and during the same time as Complexity. Pretty sure -Nas was the leader then and I remember well spamming them my designs whenever the new one would be finished. All of you have also contributed a lot to my personal growth in improving my designs.

  • Fly by Night
    - I truly miss you guys. You all have given life to the Graphics section and filled it with genuine critiques and meaningful tutorials for all to see. To +Oblivious, Baghead, +Aether, and Bad Meets Evil, the feedback from all of you played a major part in my personal growth in design and I truly don't have the words to express how thankful I am to have meet you all during your time on HF.

Recently I came back to HF after an almost year break, and just started getting back into designing by doing a few free requests. I'm looking toward possibly creating a tutorial on creating composites involving anime, but I don't know if it should be placed in the AA section or Graphics section. My most recent design will be linked below for anyone to see.

Before
After

Looking back at my years on this forum brings a few tears in my eye seeing how far I've come along from being a someone who has no special skills in anything with no interests to a still someone that has a set goal to reach with experience in a few different areas. In the near future, I do plan on thinking up on some ideas for giving back the community and maybe doing a short service for free requests at some point.

I'd like to personally thank the many individuals I've come across these past 6 years for making my experience the most memorable thing here on HackForums. A few personal shoutouts to Shutdown, Eternal., Effexion, Darkwin, Aura, Nick, and DerMensch24. Very thankful to meet all of you and even speak to some of you today (there's more people, but this thread will be too long). Omni, I love the community you've built up here, and the many savage moments from you have kept me interested in seeing the future of HackForums. Xerotic, I'm sure I spammed you years ago about my designs, but I'm also looking forward to seeing what you have in store for the future of HackForums as well.

There will be times where I take a long break from this place, but I'll always come back to see the change. HackForums isn't solely a hacking forum. Look past those areas to see HF as a home that encourages people to socialize and break out exploring new possibilities of change to oneself. Final words, I've come to like these new changes to HF and I'm enjoying my peaceful time here.
