Monitor not letting my do 144hz?

I just built a new PC with an RTX 2080 and I have an ASUS VG248 monitor that supports 144hz. I am using a dual link DVI in my monitor connected to a dual link dvi to display port adapter plugged into my RTX but its only letting me choose 60hz. I have looked in nvidia control panel too and it will also only let me do 60hz. Any one have any ideas?
Have you tried to create a custom resolution in the nvidia control panel? you can change the refresh rate there. Also I saw online that in the nvidia change resolution page make sure you're not under the "Ultra HD, HD, SD" section. Scroll down to find "PC" section and then you should be able to get 144hz

I tried. I guess I read somewhere now that I can't use an adapter and so I just ordered some displayport cables off amazon so we will see if that fixes it. thank you tho

Yeah you definitely need a dual link cord

Adapter probably doesn’t have fast enough transfer rate
Does it give you the option if you lower the resolution?

Yeah so the RTX 2080 doesn't have a DVI port only displayport and hdmi. So the best I could find closest to displayport was the dvi-dual link to displayport :/

No it always stays at 50, 59, or 60

I’m surprised the monitor didn’t come with one tbh

I have the vg278q and it came with one

But yeah DisplayPort cord is what I use and it works well

Edit: realized I said dual link and not display port in my other post lol

def use displayport
Have you tried this?

Yes I just need to get displayports it looks like
IIRC, you can get passive and active adapters. I can only guess your adapter is passive, so it's just a basic conversion. Either an active adapter, or a proper cable would get you to 144hz.
aint my sig design skills sick?
