Hello, I don't see a discussion thread on this anime, so I thought I'd create one.
Quote:One day, Kaede, a gyaru, picks up a dinosaur and begins living with it. The short comedy depicts their daily lives together as the dinosaur consumes human food, watches TV, and enjoys fashionable things. Thus begins the story of a gal and a dinosaur cohabiting that transcends time.
You can find more about the anime, here: https://myanimelist.net/anime/40358/Gal_to_Kyouryuu
It's highly recommended to keep your posts in spoilers, but there is no way to enforce that since this is a discussion thread and anything goes. Don't get upset if you read something and you aren't up-to-date with the current episodes.
As for me, I shall use spoiler codes for the first three episodes. After that, I will not use the spoiler code anymore.
While looking at the anime that was going to be airing this season, Gal to Kyouryuu, was one of the anime I decided that I was going to watch. I liked the cover art of it and thought that the girl was very cute.
The anime finally aired its first episode not too long ago and I must say that I am sadly more disappointed than I am satisfied. I was looking forward to this, despite not knowing anything about it.
We are met with Kaede, a "gyaru", a slang term for "gal" in Japanese and it's also a fashion culture. You've probably seen it before. A popular anime such as Hajimete no Gyaru is an example due to the main character being a gyaru.
![[Image: RtB7PCl.jpg]](https://i.imgur.com/RtB7PCl.jpg)
Additionally, we also meet another character, Dino, who acts like a human being but cannot talk. By this, I mean he can walk on his two legs, he is at least 5'5 to 6'0 and he likes to eat ramen. Although he cannot talk, he likes to wave his arms around as well as make facial expressions to act as a way of speaking.
The two find themselves living together, but we don't see how they met. Maybe we'll get to know how that happened later on in the series, but who knows. I'll explain why soon why I don't even know if we'll get to find how they met. We learn that Kaede works but we don't exactly know where. In the first episode, we can see her getting her makeup done and then leaving off for work. Her attire was fairly casual so she doesn't work in an office, she didn't have a uniform so she doesn't work at some sort of restaurant or store, but she had a pretty fashionable outfit on so maybe she's a model.
At the moment, these two are the only main characters we know of. We do meet Kaede's landlord but there isn't much about her we know other than the fact that she likes cats.
I will say, despite being a gyaru I like how they didn't go heavy on it with Kaede. I admit I heavily despise the gyaru style and fashion. I think the culture is weird and in anime specifically, the girls look trashy, speak trashily, and overall aren't attractive at all. However, this anime doesn't go heavy with it as I said before. What I mean is that so far Kaede dresses up pretty, but she dresses up in a modern-day Japan-style fashion. And that I do like. When it comes to fashion for women in Japan I do admit that I like the clothing over there compared to what women wear here in America. Anyways, the only thing I don't like about Kaede is going to be her speech patterns. Sometimes she talks normally while other times she does the stereotypical Japanese slang accent so you know she's talking imperfectly or disrespectfully.
The art style feels like I'm watching a cartoon. It isn't bad, but if you have ever seen Fosters Home for Imaginary Kids, imagine that but turned into an anime. Except, Blue is the Dino and Kaede is Mac. The art style reminded me so much of that cartoon. As I said it isn't terrible, but it's not appealing either.
The story is awful. There isn't even a story. This anime is going to be based on random things that the director wants us to see. It's going to be one of those anime that have segments. You'll get one segment for let's say five minutes, then another for around ten, and then another to end the episode. I do not like this type of anime. I find them to be a bore and they add no value at all. Usually, the segments are unrelated to another. Once again, no value-added and I find myself bored not following a plot. So since this anime is going to be like that, I know for a fact I am going to dislike this so much. I can already see myself getting bored.
When I get bored with an anime or I simply dislike it, I don't drop it. As I said before I am a completionist and will complete an anime to the end. Instead, whatever day an episode of an anime I don't really like airs, I watch it first to get it over with. I find that when my attention span isn't over the place like when it's night and I'm tired and cranky, I can easily sit down and focus and not wander off getting bored. Then, I work my way up to watch the things I enjoy!
The biggest complaint I have is the live-action. The first episode had a live-action scene where it replayed what we saw in the episode, but instead of the anime form, we saw it in real life. Here are some pictures:

It looks stupid and I was so bored watching it. If they continue doing this it will only make the ratings go down even more than the five it as at the moment of me writing this. The live-action bit went on for around 10 minutes. That's way too long.
I really hope they can turn this around from a flop and make it better. Kaede's really cute and like I said her fashion style really piqued my interest, so I hope they can do something to please us rather than disappoint.

Please read the following below first.
In my opinion, not that it matters since no one even reads these posts, this is the worst anime of the season. If you haven't started this yet, I do not recommend it at all! Back away, it is completely horrible! If you wish to know why, you can see my previous discussion post with my initial review and you should also read my post in the spoiler below.
I already knew what I was getting myself into when continuing to the next episode. However, I didn't know it was going to be this bad. I'll repeat it and say Kaede is cute and I love her character design, by my gosh they are butchering every character they design besides the stupid dinosaur. The art is so weird and it looks like I'm watching something from the cartoon network. Also, the body animations are sloppy and don't look smooth at all.
For the story, there is none. It's a bunch of shorts that last around four to five minutes each and add no value to the show. Then, there are mini-shorts within the shorts. These shorts last around 2-3 minutes and are usually done in stop motion with weird clay doll animation stuff. Not entertaining at all.
People are liking this show and I don't understand how. But there aren't many discussion posts so it's around five people that are saying they enjoy it. I've decided to give this a three. I haven't given something a rating like that in so long. Usually, I do four, but a three I haven't done in at least a year.
Once you hit the 10 minutes to 13 minutes mark you are greeted with live-action. And the live-action is bad. If you have ever seen an Asian drama before you know what I am talking about. I'm watching anime for anime, not live-action. If I wanted that I'd turn on a J-Drama, not this. I was looking forward to this anime too because I thought it was going to be funny but it's so bad and it makes me sad.
If you actually read my post I'm going to insert this random bit that has no meaning and I thank you for taking the time to read this. Unicorn butt.

I don't have any complaints about episode three and I am really surprised. I was expecting this episode to be terrible but it wasn't! For the time being I removed my three rating until further notice.
Dino gets a key to Kaede's apartment! This means that he can finally go out and adventure on his own, which he does now. The only thing I find interesting is that no one is shocked that a random dinosaur is roaming the streets.
We get a very small imaginary scene where the animators went through the effort to make a scene that could be used if they tried for real.

Then take a look at what the current art style is like:
![[Image: 9RIumYt.png]](https://i.imgur.com/9RIumYt.png)
Don't take what I said in a bad way, I still think the art style fits the theme of the anime; laid back and relaxing, however, if they wanted to put their full into this they could!
We finally learn where Kaede works. She works at a convenience store and seems to be full-time. I don't think we've heard her mention school other than this episode so it looks like she is a high school graduate or a high school dropout.
Despite working a lot and only getting paid minimum wage, she doesn't seem to get upset when paying for Dino's things. She was alright with spending a few dollars to get him something to eat so that's nice of her.
We are introduced to a new character, Nanami Taguchi, one of Kaede's co-workers. I don't know if we'll get more of her. She didn't interest me that much and it seems she is scared of Kaede because she is a gyaru.
The animated shorts that were not the stupid stop motion scenes were nice and sweet. The stop motion shorts are garbage and I hate them.
Why I thought this episode was going to be just as bad as the previous was the live-action segment. I already knew it was coming. However, it seems this episode was with the live-action Kaede rather than that old man. Why in the flying f*ck would an anime aimed towards teenagers and young adults want to see an old man? Apparently, some people liked him, but there is no use for him. I am more than happy with the live-action Kaede. She made it more fun and interesting and she is cute too! The only thing that bugs me about her is that just like the Kaede in the anime, they look nothing like gyaru girls! She looks like your average Japanese girl, nothing gyaru about her. The only thing that I think people might bring up is her nail style. However, those long, glittery, bedazzled whatever kind of nails are very common among Japanese girls.
Despite me hating the live-action, the quality is superb. It is so high quality. Of course, they are probably using the best equipment possible. If they can make the live-action segment so great, why can't they do this for the animation and art too?!
Anyways, here is a picture of live-action Kaede!
![[Image: 5xbMLH3.png]](https://i.imgur.com/5xbMLH3.png)
If you are curious who she is, I believe she is a gravure idol. Based on her Twitter it looks like it. You can find her: @8467_0.
Episode four was probably the worst one yet. I feel like the live-action is focused on more than the actual animation. We get a guest appearance from Hollywood Zakoshisyoh, who is a Japanese comedian I had no idea about. Well, he wasn't that funny in this "skit". I was more annoyed and confused and what was even going on.
If they continue to sh*tpost (just a term) like this then I am going to lose my mind more than I have with this series.
Kaede's outfit when they went to the movie/tv renting place was really cute. Reminded me of streetwear fashion mixed in with some Japanese style. The scene where dino goes into the adult section and Kaede follows along and acts like it was nothing was funny too. I love how everyone was creeped out. I guess I can understand that, but if that were me in that situation it wouldn't be too weird. Unless I was like Shouta who just so happens to see his ex there! Then that would be weird!
The movie bit was good. Seeing dino being scared of dinosaurs, oh the irony! But then again, we had Kaede who was scared of the horror movie. That was a good scene too. Also, as I mentioned before if they tried hard as they did with certain scenes this anime would be awesome. The horror movie wasn't as good as the Jurassic Parkour (Jurassic park parody) one. The animation, although short, was really good for the dinosaur movie!
Awe man! We learn Shouta never told his mother that he and Kaede broke up! That's hilarious. It's no wonder she still thinks so kindly of her and keeps giving her gifts. We learned a new trick to fool people, mostly little kids when it comes to oranges and having them float. I thought that was a cool little trick. Dino was scared for a bit.
After that, we get transported to the live-action segment that we get every week. Although this segment was boring this week, it was better than last week's ultimate troll with that random shirtless comedian I didn't find funny at all. I already know how weird Asian TV can be so I'm not surprised how weird the live-action segments are for this anime, but it's just... ah.
Another boring episode, but I don't expect much from this anime so it's not a surprise I didn't like this episode lol.
The animation portion was very slow and boring. The live-action was just horrible. I already know Japanese TV/Live Japanese shows are weird and this is just like that. I didn't find it funny and it was very weird. But if you're looking to lose brain cells, then you can prepare for that.
