Hey guys.
I remembe watching many episodes of Naruto some years ago, but never completed even the season 1 I believe.
I'm not an anime fan but I want to start watching some.
I decided to watch My Hero Academy and I'm already around the 3rth season.
For what I remember from Naruto, I can tell there is a lot of similarity on the plots.
I'm planning on watching Naruto after I end MHA. What do you think about these series? Which one is better?
I used to sell nice stuff on HF.
These days all I can offer you are my services as a software engineer and as a Spanish teacher. The later is a hobby I still enjoy.
Pm if interested.
Naruto is a grind, but because of that grind it sticks in your heart forever. The action is better, the anime has more depth, and it just feels so complete.

I haven't watched much of Naruto but am caught up fully on my hero and what I can say is that Naruto seems more fleshed out (I mean it's been going for longer) but can attest to what SilverAmerican said
Edit: just out of curiosity, are you in med school?

Yes. I was 4 weeks away from becoming a Doctor, before CoronaVirus.

If I had to choose one, Naruto is my favorite of the two. I am still a fan of both though. I'd watch an episode of Naruto over MHA any day.
Even know MHA is new, Naruto has a way better plot. Naruto OST is perfection MHA is good too tho.
I vote Naruto

I can't imagine how frustrating that'd be, hope everything goes well! I'd very much like to go to med school as well so that's why I was curious
I finished My Hero Academy and I really liked it.
A cousin who likes anime a lot told me that Naruto ending was a big fail. What do you know about it?

The similarities in the plots you probably remember are really just pretty common anime tropes; the exam period arcs, especially in the beginning, starting off weak with great potential you know will eventually become realized, the power of never giving up, etc. The stories themselves are thankfully quite different, but appeal to the same demographic - Naruto is a long burn, I wouldn't necessarily say a slow burn because although it has a lot of episodes (and if it gets to you then you can skip a good load of the filler content that isn't apart of the original manga and doesn't have much impact on the story, only really character development), each arc keeps you strung along with a whole new set of challenges and twists that will keep you watching once you get into it and for the most part you won't feel like your waiting for something big to happen that you know is inevitable. Similarly, the two shows go down really dark paths at times, and super wholesome ones at others - although currently, I would say that Naruto probably has a darker tone overall, which is appealing to older viewers. What isn't though is the likability of the main character, in MHA you have a fairly likable protagonist from the beginning and he slowly matures and becomes more mature and likable as you go. Naruto, on the other hand, is a pain in the ass from episode one and doesn't really become even mildly tolerable until Shippuden and even then he regresses at times, but is on a more linear path to growing up instead of kind of just staying the same and learning lessons, but not maturing during the whole first series.
tl;dr
Naruto will hit you in the feels over and over again, with honestly some of the most moving and intense scenes in anime, it can be really hit or miss though with some of the episodes, with sometimes even entire seasons worth of boring filler. You'll probably like it if you're into stuff like MHA - which is, as a show, a little more polished and concise, but sometimes at the cost of depth.
Hunter x Hunter (2011), Demon Slayer and Bleach would also be right up there with my top recommendations for someone looking for more Shonen.

I would suggest watching naruto it’s a great anime I would agree that the ending was a fail and seemed more of a filler rather than an ending I would also suggest skipping filler and believe you me there are a lot of them would also recommend the shippuden movies especially the last one after you finish the series I have also watched all of MHA and it is a great anime I wouldn’t say they are better than the other I think they are both equally good in their own aspect
