wasted youth

do any of you guys feel like you lost out on experiences from growing up because of strict parents? do you ever look back or wonder how your life would be different?

I’m not so sure, I wish I had a stricter parent to be honest. I only had my mother and I followed in her footsteps and committed crimes and experimented with drugs at a young age because nobody told me it was wrong. Sometimes having a strict parent can be an amazing thing, not many people can break the cycle of being shitty humans if they aren’t raised properly. :)

Of course there is always too strict that is a big issue as it can cause the complete opposite and drive people to do the things they shouldn’t.

Yeah. I mean you can't choose your family its the luck of the draw and you deal with what you have. I mean now its made me the person I am today, so I wouldn't change anything because its how it all ended up.

My adoptive parents sent me off to private school in which I boarded 5 days a week.
On the weekends id go into town and make friends with all the wrong people because of it with no restrictions. By the age of 14, desperate to fit in, I began generating "work" for many of my wankster friends who only knew how to sell drugs. I taught myself how to replicate bus passes and stamp cards, then IDs , government checks in which eventually graduating to counterfeit currency.
When I turned 18, in my first year of university,  my best friend snitched me out and I got 6 years in Federal Prison (4.5 served, 3 in max) and have been trying to reset and rebuild my life ever since.

So no, strict parents do not exactly cripple you in my opinion. The experiences you feel you miss out on in your teens and early years will be long forgotten about into adulthood.

EDIT: HUGH JANUS.
LOOOOOOOOL.

Yeah I definitely think that makes sense, I think it can be extreme on either side of the spectrum I suppose.

I personally was the opposite. I felt more compelled to rebel because of all the restrictions I lived with my entire life and learnt from a young age to be sneaky etc.

I had somewhat strict parents also, however they were separated at a young age for me but it was still good, I don't feel as if I missed out on much at all...

Compared to nowadays I hate that kids have xbox's, ps4s and all the games consoles and don't go out and play, when I was young I loved going out and playing football AKA "SOCCER" but you just don't see that now.

I def wouldn't change anything either but I still think about it often

That's all I wanted to do as a kid - go out and play with friends. But my parents never let me out of the house so I was stuck on the computer.

I remember the days when my Dad was really strict for me and my siblings, I was often disappointed then and gets angry when he used to avoid me or with my elder brother going out wherever we wanted to go.
But now we are already adult and now have our own families and children...we have realized what it takes to be a father and what he have done before is for the our own good and he just want us to be a disciplined man in the future :)
My main regrets are with not taking it further with certain girls when I was younger and being friends with a certain individual.

I think it would be cool to go back in time with what I know now.

Absolutely not. I build and paint gundam model kits, my life was already over from the start.

Are you still young or something? Surely you aren't holding regrets regarding females after years.

Nah, i'm not young. I've had plenty of women and have a good gf. Just now that i'm experienced I realize all my blown opportunities and stuff. They are only minor regrets, really.

Yeah, the bigger one is being friends with a kid who introduced me to hardcore narcotics and stole some very valuable possessions from me.
