Is there any ways I can find out where a Instagram user lives? I have his/her Instagram username, a free hosting website he/she owns, and a file he/she sent me. I have been talking to the user, but it is a spam account, so no personal info.

Just send him/her a link which redirect to a server which grab the ip and does a redirect to an image/video/site which you will use as excuse .


there are really a lot of sites to do that and you can just google it (I quickly found this but never tried give it a look: https://grabify.link/) , otherwise you can just get any free hosting service and put this code, the page will redirect where you what (replace example.com) and will make a ipgrabbed.txt close to the php file containing the ip . (would be useful make instead a subdirectory with an .htaccess but nvm)

Twitter embeds user data(time, location, etc) in the image, so downloading the image and running exiftool or exif2 gives some idea. I've never tried that out with instagram, but maybe it might work. There are a lot of tools available to download instagram photos. Use them and try it out.

most social media sites strip metadata when posting photos, espcially location data, however, VSCO does not so you can get a lot of info on someone when viewing the exif data of their VSCO pics
