How good is the Intel Core i7-6700K for gaming?

The i7 uses something called Hyperthreading which isn’t really used too much in gaming. Other than that, there really isn’t much of a difference. There are some programs that also use Hyperthreading as well. For those games and applications that actually DO take advantage of it, then the i7 is a better choice.

What is the way the i7 better affects games?

When it comes to gaming, at least now, clock speed is by far the most important, sure games are being optimized more and more with multi-core CPUs in mind, compared to about 10 years ago, they're using more CPU cores (and more threads for that matter, which means that hyper-threading (HT) is slightly more important now), but at the end of the day, clock speed is slightly more important, that's why Intel is still dominating AMD when it comes to gaming

You're welcome buddy
6700k is slower than the Ryzen 3100 and Ryzen 3300x. The ryzen 3100 & 3300x cost far less new and even less used. The only reason to get a 6700k is if you're a fanboy of Intel and bullheaded about another brand
Be careful or you might get sarge'd

I'm also planning to upgrade my system from Ryzen 5 3400g to t Intel Core i7-6700K.

You would need a new motherboard to go intel. The ryzen 3100 & 3300x cost less than the i7 6700k and is also faster.

3rd gen zen is about to come out and will blow a hole in the 6700k

maybe so. well-known brands like Intel will get a lot of attention

AMD stock is much higher than intel and receiving a lot more coverage. Intel has more security issues, I can list all the security issues intel had.

Intel was the reason Microsoft had to patch Windows 7 after it's EOL.

You can go with Intel, it's not my money being spent. It's just stupid to go with them

I hope you will be happy with your choice. it's simply amazing
Most games moving forward will be around 8 cores.

So it really is wise to invest a bit more on an 8 core processor if you are looking long term. If you don't mind some FPS loss than that CPU is perfectly powerful even today (just nothing close to modern stuff)

The 8-core CPU is of course great but for me its price simply makes me a little hesitant.
Been streaming on a i7-3770k at 4.6Ghz for years now :) Been working and can stream at 1080p 60fps any game :)
