Help for newcomers to avoid being scammed

Hi HF, hope everyone has had a pleasant day.

I thought I'd make this thread so newcomers have some guidance on how to stay vigilant whilst conducting business on HF.

This mainly pertains to the marketplace section but it can be used with deals in other sections too. First and foremost, please pay attention to a user's deal disputes. It's a big red number and it really can't be missed. If they have a deal dispute, chances are, it's not safe for you to do a deal with the m. It's kinda common sense but common sense isn't so common anymore.

Another suggestion I have is to keep an eye out for crazy get rich quick schemes which offer $1000s a month with little to no requirements from the user, where there's no real distinguishing factor between who can do said method and who can't. "Proof" can be faked, so take every screenshot of Bitcoin wallets, PayPal transactions / gifs and statements with a grain of salt. Ask for a screenshare, ask for a signed BTC transaction, ask for relevant logs of transactions that are directly linked to the method. Some people can post valid money statements but are not linked to the method they're offering.

Another thing I advise people to check is the sign up date of a user. Some users buy old accounts or steal old accounts, for example a user may have signed up in 2013 but only recently started posting or there's been a long gap between their posting. If a user has signed up several years ago and only recently started posting and churned out a method, please be cautious of that. This applies to accounts that don't have consistent usage throughout and content. Make sure you check their old posts / threads, see if they have mannerisms and any contact information you can confirm their identity with. Little things like that can go a long way. Just do your due diligence.

Lastly, I'd like to point out the newly upgraded accounts that post threads and promise $XXXX but will not use a middleman and/or offer vouch copies to other new members or members who aren't reputable and they don't post legitimate earning proof. It's a simple case of that if sounds too good to be true, it most likely is.

Stay safe HF. Please reply with any additional tips you guys have, it would be a great help.

Thank you
-H

Yes I'm new, but doesn't mean I can't pick up things quick.

This is just a general reminder to everyone :)

Not true. A deal dispute is reflected on both parties' accounts, the buyer and the seller. I have a deal dispute under my name but I was not the one in the wrong. Every situation and person is different.

💯 Most of the time, they're public methods or just don't work.

Don't even pay attention to that shit. If you're truly interested in the product, Google it to see if anything comes up. If not, PM the most "trusted" member that "vouched" and ask if it's legitimate. More than not, they'll be honest and tell you they were told what to say, etc.

Or this. Ask to do a TV or something. If they're reluctant, they're probably lying about the method, too.

A users' join date has nothing to do with how they will conduct themselves in the marketplace. This is just as important as popularity. They both mean nothing.

People take breaks, especially from online forums. A lot of us grew up on here and moved on with our lives, then decided to come back. There are also a shit ton of people that prefer to lurk. A persons' posting habits do not reflect their ability to conduct business in the marketplace.

People change. I joined in 2010. That's 10 years of growth. How I posted in 2010 is definitely not how I post in 2020. Shit. How I posted in 2019 is not how I post in 2020.

I'm with you on this one. Don't deal with anyone who is flat out refusing to use a middleman. That's shady in itself. Also, don't be stupid and just take the seller's word for it. No reviews/vouches usually means no sales, which means there is no solid proof that the method actually works.

Just do your own due diligence. If it feels wrong, don't do it.

That's the first thing I thought. A new member wouldn't have the confidence to make a post like that.

No one needs confidence to make a post in an online forum lol. At least not the way I see it.

I call it out how I see it.

You just joined. You wouldn't even know all of those things mentioned above, especially since you've never done a deal on HF.

I'm a quick study, and I've been on other forums before.
