My old laptop no longer turns on. I removed the hard drive and connected it to my new laptop via sata/usb cable. Once plugged in it requires a "passphrase" to enter.
I tried every password i can remember and nothing worked. I am using ubuntu 20.04 and I am wondering if anyone has steps to use hashcat or any other program to crack the passphrase?
I have installed hashcat via terminal and found the hard drive in terminal under /dev/sdb5 but this is all new to me so none of this makes much sense other than it saying there is in fact a key slot used.
any help or link to help would be great! Thanks
