Don't let users self-ban when there is an open dispute

Following recent events where users have self-banned after a dispute has been opened against them, I feel like it would be a decent idea to disallow self-banning after a dispute has been opened.

This prevents potential scammers from avoiding the dispute and attempting to get away with it.

I also agree with this.
What is self banning? What is the difference between getting banned by being exposed as a scammer vs scamming all, being exposed, and self banning?

I recommend you read the Help Docs

Either way when they come back they are banned because clearly 6+ people got scammed by him?

but will they not have still 6 open disputes if they come back after their self ban for all potential contract members to see?

then i do not see the problem... but staff should ban either way
scam -> self ban -> they think you got banned for scamming (or smth) -> might not even open a dispute
I agree with this and I'll add:
If you have open contracts, same thing as I've seen some disputes of people who bought something and the second the other person sent the money they self banned

How they are getting away with it? Opened dispute stays on your profile until it's resolved. It doesn't matter if you're banned or not.

Edit: Okay, let's say we make you can't self-ban if you have a dd open. How is that going to help to solve any dispute? If a scammer doesn't want to reply, he won't lol.

It was a blast being on staff. I stepped down as it's time for me to move on. I wish you all the best and if you were hit by my warnings and/or bans, it was nothing personal.

Peace out!

i think it just forces them to resolve it or admit to scamming. There are a few members i can think of that have returned and people have "forgotten" somehow aboutr all there deal disputes and started dealing with them again
I think we should just start publicly hanging people who exit scam.

Also, maybe instead of not allowing selfbans with open disputes, maybe if you get 3 or more disputes opened on you within 48 hours and try to selfban yourself it will auto-close your account?

It doesn't force anyone to do anything lol. You can't really forget a big red number on your profile and it serves as valuable info to any potential customer/buyer/whatever who looks at their profile.

Very true sadly some newer members still do though. And the previous members they scammed arnt there to warn them But i guess your right they should just look at their previous contracts which should tell them enough.
The only good reason was that if somebody has self banned a newbie could think they're banned and not bother opening a deal dispute.
