In most cases this would not be useful at all but in the case you purchase a subscription, with a guaranteed time frame, it would be nice to reopen a dispute. If you purchase something for a year and problems start popping up in 2 weeks and they're resolved, dispute closed, you're out of luck. The seller's got no obligation to assist or remedy the situation knowing you can't open a new dispute or reopen the one you previously opened.

The scammer could care less about the site. But I do agree with huge drop in quality. (Jan 17, 2025 06:21 PM)F4tDoinkz Wrote: yeah but that only points out the scam “lifetime” subscriptions really are lol. I've had this happen as well where some vendors have sold me stuff that I haven't been able to access years later so perhaps maybe instead of lifetime it could be changed to something different. The problem is, how else to define lifetime? I think that perhaps you are asking for more clairvoyance in the terms and conditions and/or help documents when it comes to this? I mean a method someone is using to provide said service could not work at any time or anything else that could happen. I just think in general we probably should have a rule banning the service from claiming lifetime. They should have to set a certain amount of time like 3 months or something. Even a year is a long time when you consider how often members shuffle around and disappear.

Fair enough, but some sellers have a reputation to keep and can use this as a means to sly out of their terms. If it's an exit scam or a one off scammer, yeah it doesn't apply. Chances are though, if you're going for a subscription, you want someone with some reputation here (Jan 17, 2025 06:18 PM)Tyr Wrote: If disputes can be reopened arbitrarily, sellers will hesitate to offer extended subscriptions or complex services, knowing their obligations might never truly end. The expectation however, should remain, to offer something you can actually maintain or provide. If you find a "new" method and it works for a day, and you start selling subscriptions for a year, and it's a pain daily, you're already wasting both your time and the buyer's. "Lifetime" clearly covers the lifetime of a product or service. Who expects lifetime to last until physical death of the customer or vendor? I agree I wish more people understood this, unfortunately many people have unreal expectations. 😡 If only those people could only buy from people like themselves then they would understand. I am currently at 88% for quick loves please help a brother out QL4QL

The idea behind a lifetime guarantee seems silly to begin with. The only time I've seen it applicable and true to form is for like an anti-virus. I was referring to yearly subscriptions which are normally purchased. |
