Read this article, it's the wet dream of the elitists where there is no crypto currency or pirated content, only what the Government wants you to see on the internet.
I lean left politically and this shit scares me that they will actually try to remove the open internet, the scary part is the article actually explains how it is very possible, they'll just make for example Netflix only use their regulated version of the internet then the users will follow.
Quote:We foresee a new internet emerging, with two distinct sides. On one side, we’ll have the wholly unfiltered, minimally regulated, Wild West internet that anyone can access.
On the other side, we might see the evolution of what could be called the “World Wide Intranet,” that is, widely accessible but tightly controlled websites with stringent access controls to prevent criminal activity, much like the closed corporate intranets that gained popularity two decades ago.
Large online merchants like Amazon, the government, healthcare providers or other large organizations will no longer tolerate criminal assaults on their and their stakeholders’ data and resources. As such, as security measures like multi-factor authentication evolve, they will increasingly be adopted by these organizations and passed onto consumers as a condition of access.
As a society, we accept controls when the cost of not having them becomes greater than the restrictions they impose. We see this trend as an inevitable consequence of the growing security threats affecting not only networks but the individuals that transact with them.
By 2025, the world will store 200 Zettabytes (one trillion gigabytes) of data. The accompanying growth in transactions leaves us no other choice but to tighten identity and access controls.
One pathway might divide the web into one open, but inherently risky, internet and one closed, controlled, regulated and inherently untrusting one where security and privacy dominate.
Nowadays? I'm just here for the nostalgia.
Very interesting look on this topic, im curious about this future :)
Also this;
"we accept controls when the cost of not having them becomes greater than the restrictions they impose."
I didn't read any of this and I'm not going to
I don't think that will ever happen and if it does I will be the first one to stop using the internet altogether
Since this article begun with talking about ARPANET, it was on my blacklist. Sounds like a high school' student presentation.
We can't do without the Internet, and if some shits think they can do whatever they want without any consequences, I can say that they will regret it. Internet is the base of our actual society, try to fuck the society and you'll be fucked deeper.

I can see this happening in the distant future. Or at least them trying to do something like this gradually...
2FA is a b!tch of a evolution, from a hackers stance. But here's some #foodforthought
What if in the future like when we're all dead, Google for example gets hacked, and ALLLLLLLL data which Google has gets leaked.
I honestly think we could have a better understanding of each other and we would hit an evolution spurt.
Would you care if someone read your emails when you're dead? Or see where you were? What you searched and at what time?
OT: The government right now are more scary than ever. They make it classified information, and I will probably be closed for this... BUT!
Believe it or not the US/UK government are ratting even iPhones. They can watch you while you use your phone. And they do. But it's classified and you're probably not interesting enough to get their attention, SKIDS!
Thanks

it's the left that is censoring everything. They're just starting with censoring un-politically correct opinions because some people might feel hurt, but if we let them there is literally no end to it. Once they prohibit you from discussing certain topics or saying certain word there is no more freedom of speech and they can ban whatever they want

It's all cool until it effects them then they cry.

yeah that's the whole point this thing started because people are crying over everything nowadays and to see op say that he's complaining about it while leaning left politically is just mind blowing

Not to make this thread too much about politics but not everyone leans a certain way and agrees with everything that goes on from that side of politics. I've seen it many times, people say they like Trump but they think he's over the top with the Tweets and creating dumb controversy, but they personally support most of his political decisions (for example maybe they support his immigration policies).
For myself, I may lean left but I think for myself and form my own opinions on things. Government trying to regulate the internet is something I'm strongly against.
But I have other things from the left spectrum that I strongly believe in like taxing the rich, I am against anyone owning guns not for hunting in my country, I am against religion being involved in Government (something the US can't seem to figure out), etc.
But I am also for capitalism because I can appreciate how independent business without too much regulation can create good jobs for people.
So not everyone is so damn partisan that they agree blindly with one political party or politician, some people like to think for themselves, doesn't mean they can't lean a certain way though.
And why the fuck are people posting in here saying they haven't read anything and aren't going to? Why even say anything if you have nothing to add to the conversation? That used to get people warnings on HF for LQP.
Nowadays? I'm just here for the nostalgia.

And this is why Crypto is so important.

Yeah good fucking luck 🤣
They already don't tolerate it, there's just nothing they can do about it. Hackers gonna hack yo
Edge computing is actually the future.

That's a healthy approach to politics. I thought I'd just point out the hypocrisy when posting but now I see that's not the case. We need more people like OP. Everyone is pitted against eachother with the whole culture war while we just need to all work together.
