Never heard back from him.
Well looks like he pulled a quick exit scam. He has another dispute for the same exact gift cards.

Look for Open disputes before starting a contract.

Check for the date and time of the DDs and contracts before telling people that.
Seller has 2 DD only. Both OP and the other user made their contracts with the seller yesterday around the same time and both users disputed their contract today.

Use a middleman when you can not fully trust the other person. Better to spend 3% more than to lose 100%

Sadly there's no way afaik to stop scams 100%. You can go through certain steps to lower the chances of getting scammed which include:
1. Checking if the user has any DDs.
2. Check the user's marketplace history/activity.
3. Check their B-ratings.
4. Check their Trust scan
5. Use a MM.

this is the way.. 😥
Feel for you bud. Middle man service always can help. Sometimes the middle man gets the scam though, it’s at there own risk as well. I had a couple hard hits back in the day and it’s so nice to have the contract system HF provides now. Best of luck in the future bud. If it’s anything below 1k in the future I’d do the middleman service for free for you.
