Retail price versus second hand.

Hi,

Just wanted a rough idea on how much you generally should be deducting price-wise, per item when selling it used?

For example, I've obtained a collectable spiderman statute, and from new, they sell for £80, as this is second hand, I wanted to know what is a sensible and reasonable percentage to sell?

Usually I just ask the half of what I've paid.

Exemple: If I've paid my iPhone $800 I'd ask $400 if he's still good looking and not broken.

Yeah, I was thinking half but wasn't entirely sure if there were a rule of thumb of percentages.

It really depends on a lot of factors, including the state the item finds itself in. Wouldn't worry too much about a rule of thumb. You can always start high, and if it doesn't sell, lower the price and list it again. Sometimes you might be surprised how much people pay for the most random stuff.
Yeah you cant get as much as in retail unfortunately even if ifs untouched.
I'd say just sell it half unless it was very lightly used.

Sometimes you have no choice but to pay secondhand if you know the product won't be reprinted. I know a lot about this sort of stuff since I collect/build gunpla.

oh sorry misread. for price reduction i'd say it depends if it has any damage on the item or the box to make deductions. Just because it's secondhand doesn't mean it's worth any less.

Depends on what it is what condition and how old and rare value and other things

No boxes, but spot-on condition, he took really good care of it.

It's a Groot figurine, spiderman statue figurine and a few lots of Disney Infinity, a Green Lantern ring with a case and holder.

There's no rule of thumb. Is it in perfect immaculate condition and "like new"? Is it big? You need to consider these factors. But also unfortunately China has made so much knockoff Spiderman and Batman stuff in particular that that will lower the value unless it's some well known brand. I just know as a mother that stuff is really easy to get cheap for little boys,
You say statue- is it really tall? Is it life size like Eminem's Spiderman statue?

This is made in china, but has marvel on the bottom of the statue?

Oh well the "Marvel" label is definitely something you should put in your ad. If it's immaculate and quite big I'd price it at $56.95 something like that if it was $80 originally. But that might be a bit cheeky. But it's official Marvel merchandise that's something.

Cool. Yeah actually other people would know a lot more about the value of Marvel than I do. So I should shut up.😆 There must be some dude here on HF into Marvel. Maybe you should have put "value of second hand marvel merchandise. Or wasn't there an appraisals section on this board at one time?
