120 x 150 is kinda weak. This isn't a radical idea but I think it would just be nicer visually and give people a little more room to play around and be creative. It could even be a perk for L33t/Ub3r only as part of the incentives to upgrade. Just a thought, I think it would be nice. Doesn't have to be huge, even 150x150 or 200x200 would be great.

Size doesn't concern me as much as file size, really annoying trying to get gifs to the sweet spot. Hundreds of other forums do it, I think we would be fine. It's not like this place isn't overflowing with technical experts and tons of money. Could also make it Ub3r only to cut out a lot of volume. I think 150x150 would be nice to have. Anyone that wants a square image is forced to do 120px. I don't think extending the width maximum from 120px to 150px would significantly alter the layout of the site, if at all.
EDIT: Many areas on the site where avatars are displayed have their maximum dimensions set. So having a 150x150 avatar doesn't mean that it would display as 150x150 everywhere on site. I can make the avatars whatever size I want. And I have 120x150. |
