Current pricing of LTC is $110. ATH was $410 in May 2021 (10 months ago).
Basically LTC continues to maintain a good market position as a usable crypto due to fast transaction speeds and nearly zero fees.
Looking at comparative pricing levels against Bitcoin you can see that it's just 25% of the ATH whereas BTC is 60% of theirs. That means if both cryptos reach new ATH's in the coming months or next year that Litecoin will be the better investment retun.
I continue to see strong usage of Litecoin with HF members. It's easily the 2nd most popular payment crypto. Almost no one uses Ethereum. Bitcoin fees continue to be questionable. We could be two years away still from ETH 2.0 (fixing their fee problem).
Just saying to you that if you want to grab some LTC at $110 a pop this is a reasonable moment. I'm going to price target $220+ by EOY. That's a 100% return. Will Bitcoin go to $84k by then to match that return? We shall see.
Litecoin may not be a sexy investment due to age and lack of development excitement but Litecoin has a strength in doing something that's needed. Being an actual digital currency for simple basic transactions. I got Litecoin, I need to send $25, I want a penny transaction fee and for it to confirm within a reasonable time. That's when you use Litecoin and pretty much nothing else.
For reference too I will VATOP BTC.

Wouldn't Monero be superior in every way, though?

No.
Monero is actually less easily obtained because many common exchanges and wallets don't support it. While I do get XMR payments, it's not nearly the same volume as LTC. I'd be very happy if that was true. And I am a huge fan of XMR, so if you believe it's a better investment than go for it.
Also Monero didn't peak to new ATH in the 2021 bull run, while Litecoin did.
Liking XMR for the technology (especially the privacy) is not the same as liking it as an investment with returns.

I don’t think it’s a ‘bad’ investment, but i do think for risk vs reward, you should just stick with BTC or ETH.
If you want to get into long term, riskier plays with your $500, i would highly recommend looking into layer2 solutions.

Pinned thread on those^
Layer 2s is where I’m personally invested in outside of ETH (I hold practically no BTC tbh -I am an Etheriest for life). Personally, i am invested into Cartesi and Loopring... those are my hold on for dear lifers. Giving it years to pick up mass adoption.
Edit: Regarding OP, you don’t have to go all in on anything. Diversification is smart. Open up the horizon.
I don’t plan to buy on more, but I only accept LTC mainly so I’m accumulating regardless.
Until ETH doesn’t suck, I’m on the LTC ship as well. Cheap fees and everyone knows it.
As far as investing goes… i am an etheriest for life

If you look at Ethereum L2's such as Abritrum daily tx vs LTC we can see that L2's despite only taking 1% of ETH block space (Arbitrum and all other L2's) already handle nearly the same amount of TPD (Transactions per day). But I do agree that LTC will be a "preferred" method for now and will likely reach $400+ eventually.
70-100k tx daily on Arbitrum L2
120k-150k tx daily on LTC
Yeah, I agree. Been making my HF payments with LTC lately. Very low fees and fast transactions and almost universally accepted.
SneakyBoots Discord or HF convo me.
The once silver of crypto. I have a few thousand I hold but I still am a bobble head with LTC and BCH.
In the eearly days, I was thinking Litecoin will surpass BTC because of the fees and fast transactions, I think the market doesn't work that way lol
I have made every payment on this site in LTC.
I use it as an every day payment form. It's the only obvious choice for cheap, fast, and scalable. It's also more adopted than XMR

I don't know as much about crypto as you or any of the other HF members do, but I also use Litecoin the most for payments.
On HF and other communities/marketplaces, Litecoin is my first listed payment method or what I ask people for if I'm selling something. I think my transactions are normally confirmed within minutes and the low fee is probably one of my favorite parts about it.
I probably sound like a massive noob because in most aspects I lack knowledge about crypto, I don't know how you make your judgment on what is a good investment/coin/network/project, etc. I have lots of learning and research to do, but I can say I think Litecoin is probably my favourite crypto to use and crypto, in general, is my main payment choice now.

I love Litecoin. Low fees, fast and classic non-token crypto with its own blockchain and stuff. Furthermore 84M max supply, it's definitely silver in crypto.
Thanks for the advice, I will take it to collect more and more LTC.

What's the total $ value paid in fees, though? that's the question.

Currently Arbitrum tx fees add up to about $148k towards ETH security
https://l2fees.info/l1-fees
LTC only collects about $2,000 tx fee daily
