HxH episodes 61-70 : Reviews and Ratings.
## Introduction and background :
Hey guys, so this is where I am gonna start doing my reviews for Hunter x Hunter.
Just some quick background on my experience with anime, how I started watching HxH and why I’m doing these reviews. I have been watching anime for quite a while now. Probably about 7 years. I watched many popular shows like aot, vinland saga, Naruto, mha, demon slayer and even one piece. But for some reason I always put off watching HxH. I know it has a very high rating on my anime list, anilist or even imdb. But the poster never encouraged me to watch the series. it just looked so childish (boy was I wrong). Anyways I am on episode 82 as I am writing this and I really love it.
Also a special shout out to u/Smoking-Bandit . He’s the one who inspired me to do this, go read his thoughts, they’re definitely interesting. Although, I am gonna do things a little bit differently, I am gonna use a 10 point decimal scoring system since I’d like things to be as precise as possible. I am also gonna try to include some pics to appreciate the visuals and to refresh some people’s minds on the episodes im watching.
With that out of the way, please do not spoiler beyond ep 82, better yet do not spoil beyond episode 70 since the reviews are gonna catch up anyways. Also if i disagree with something please do not attack me, you can obviously be vocal about you disagreements, just keep it civil. have a nice reading :
## Episode 61 : (8.5/10)

I thought this episode was a great start to the greed island game. The first thing that grabbed my attention was the new OST. It’s so good, very optimistic and so cheereful. A much needed breather after a very dark and gritty yorkshin city arc (damn it! I wish I came to reddit sooner so I could do this for this arc). The moment with killua directing his bloodlust towards the game player who attacked him was so well done, I loved the filter the animators used on the screen, it made him look so deadly. Also seeing Machi grieving before Paku’s grave was a nice touch. It was weirdly sad. And finally, that last scene with Gon and Killua! my heart melted seeing killua thanking Gon and acknowledging the fact that he saved him from the darkness. My only criticism of the episode is how much those players kept explaining things to our protagonists, it took too long but I do acknowledge its necessity.

Nothing much happened this episode. Seeing killua and Gon learn more about the game was kinda cool I guess but also a bit boring. The troupe’s short scenes were the highlights for me. Seeing Shalnark figure out that Greed island is a real place thanks to his impressive deductive skills was very interesting. Also I love how the player who attacked killua was just casually killed by Phinks and Feitan. Seeing them compete in killing the most players was disturbing. Very cold-blooded, almost robotic. I had a feeling that Bisky was older than she looks, but hearing that she learned Nen 40 years ago was shocking !! also seeing killua being so rude to her during the episode was pretty funny, ngl.

I LOVED THIS ONE !! Learning that Wing was one of Bisky’s students was very cool. But what made me enjoy it so much was this new irrelevant side character : Binolt. He has an interesting and creepy ability. Challenging Bisky after recognizing her strength was pretty honorable, although the way he was defeated was humiliating. Bisky is so RAW !! she wasn’t kidding when she said she’s much tougher than Wing. This is not training, this is pure torture !! she’s really forcing them to put their lives on the line for training !! Killua almost lost an eye there. the duel against Binolt was entertaining, and Bisky’s commentary made even more so. Her excitement for their talent lowkey reminded me of Hisoka. But the best part of the episode was Binolt’s backstory. So short yet so efficient. The writers really showed how hate only breeds hate and how prejudice can create the most fearsome of monsters. He just wanted to return the damn wallet you fucking imbeciles !!

After finishing Heavens arena and Yorkshin, by that point nen has already become my new favorite Power System (it used to be chakra from Naruto). But these episodes, specifically this one took it to a whole different dimension. It’s just so well thought-out to the point that it almost feels like science. I do admit that I still forget some minor things but even though it’s very complex, it’s relatively easy to understand if one pays attention. I just keep struggling with the names and what they mean, maybe I’ll get used to it like I did with ren, ten, zetsu and hatsu. Also that guy being the bomber wasn’t a surprise since the opening pretty much spoils it. Why would they do that ? such a bummer, I wonder how different my reaction would have been If I didn’t know. But still, it was a good twist, the guy looks pretty intimidating and kinda crazy, he really cut the guy’s head off !!

Sheesh, that brief exchange between Razor and the troupe was lowkey intense. He definitely seems like an interesting character , he’s one of those closed-eyes guys who are always chilled out. Gon and killua finally developping their special abilities was nice. hearing Bisky’s comment about killua’s tragic life was sad , but seeing the proud look in her eyes made me happy. I never thought that killua would take the exam a second time, that took me by surprise. So that’s nen exorcism huh ! that thing looks disgusting. The dude definitely lucked out, he made it just in time before that asshole killed everybody. Who would have thought that he would break his promise ? That’s actually my main criticism about the episode. How could they trust that dude ? wasn’t obvious that he was gonna kill them ?

Woaaah , killua aced the exam like lightning ( see what I did there ). The way he knocked everybody out was so badass, he really flexed. But damn! couldn’t he spare zepile at least! He’s a friend, kinda sad. When they showed chrollo’s name on the binder I almost spilled my drink, a few moments later and Hisoka literally shows up. I was so happy to see him again. But you gotta give it to the writers man, the plot is so intricate, the way they tied up the fortune to Greed island was genius, nothing in this show is done without a purpose. Also Kurapikaaaaa, I missed you my boy. His boss looks like a completely different person. And Neon is not even aware that chrollo stole her power, poor girl, I feel bad for her. Now, the problem is that all of this exciting stuff happened in the first half. The second half was really boring. I feel like it’s because I’m not invested in the villains of this arc specially the bomber’s two companions, they’re kinda just there. They’re just Genthru’s minions.

Without a doubt, the worst episode of the arc so far. Or maybe I should say the least good. It wasn’t bad or anything but it was kinda boring. I feel like Gon and Killua are gaining cards way too fast. Although I liked how Gon was the one to figure out how to acquire "Lucky Alexandrite”. And what’s up with that b\*itch ? the one who kept picking a fight with killua. The meeting was to exchange information but she was the one who was being uncooperative. Well … At least she came around at the end.
